Flower Basket Bike Birthday Card

This is for my longest friend…she is not by age my oldest friend, but I have known her the longest. She moved into our neighborhood when I was in 4th grade (she was in 5th). My family moved to another state when I was in 5th grade. My longest friend and I have kept in touch all of these years by letter and now e-mail, Facebook, and the occasional phone call. I do treasure her, and I really hope that I have conveyed that sentiment over the years!

Floral Princess and Warrior Card – Essentials by Ellen May 2017 Pin-Sights Challenge

Recently, Ellen Hutson and her crew created the Courage stamp and die set to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Fund. I waffled on whether or not I wanted to purchase it – it looked lovely, but it was a lot of money (a good deal, no doubt – 33 stamps, 13 dies, 1/2 of the purchase price goes to the charity…I’m just low on cash). I had it in my cart several times, but I would delete it. Then, I heard that one of the teachers we had in elementary school days is just beginning her breast cancer journey. I bought the set that night.

I am a newbie at multi-step florals, this set seemed pretty forgiving.

I am entering this into the Essentials by Ellen May 2017 Pin-Sights Challenge. And the card has been mailed to our friend beginning her journey.

Here is the inspiration:

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Pink Pirouette, inks – Almost Amethyst (retired), Bashful Blue (retired), Blushing Bride, Certainly Celery (retired), Elegant Eggplant, Lavender Lace (retired), Marina Mist, Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink (retired), Rose Red, VersaFine Onyx Black, ZIG Wink of Stella clear, sequins – Pretty Pink Posh, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Painted Enveloper Series Mother’s Day Card

For this card, I stamped in black and embossed. Then, I carefully watercolored the flowers and butterflies. When that was dry, I lightly watercolored the sky. I was really happy with it, until I thought, “Oh, let me wipe of the embossed areas, just in case there is some color still sitting on top of the embossing – I don’t want the recipient to get painted fingers.” Now there are several smudges. My final touch was splatterings of clear Wink Of Stella.

So, helpful readers, how should I remove the residual paint color that sits on top of embossed areas? I know I rubbed – I should not have done that. Would just blotting work?

Supplies: Stamps – Hero Arts, Waffle Flower, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Poptone Sour Apple, Strathmore Bristol, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, Smokey Gray, ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens Carmine Red (022), Cobalt Blue (031), Light Green (041), Orange (070), Yellow (050), ZIG Wink of Stella, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Silver Pearl.

Watercolored Galaxy Background Encouragement Card

watercolor galaxy be confident

For this background, I was expanding my artistic horizons, trying to create a galaxy background similar to what Kristina Werner created in this blog post .

Sorry I didn’t think to take an “in progress” shot. I loosely watercolored the ZIG Clean Color marker colors and let them dry. They were much lighter than the colors in Kristina Werner’s card – I am much more timid with watercolors, and I struggle with too much water. After it was dry, I really struggled with putting the black paint over the colors! It sat on my counter for more than a week, then I added white paint spatters, and a few spatters of Wink of Stella (which turned out much larger than I wanted – too late!).

This sentiment is another PERFECT one from the Simon Says Stamp Uplifting Thoughts set.

It is very pretty in person, and I had to add the Aurora Borealis Swarovski jewels to my galaxy because they fit the theme.

Supplies: Stamp – Simon Says Stamp, paper – Arches watercolor, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Papertrey Ink Royal Velvet, ink – Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray, VersaFine Onyx Black, Wink of Stella clear, die – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), watercolors – ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers Blue (30), Cobalt Blue (31), Light Green (41), Light Violet (81), Orange (70), Pink (25), Yellow (50), Kuretake Gansai Tambi #10 (white), 20 (black), jewels – EK Success Swarovski Elements Aurora Borealis, embossing powder – Ranger Liquid Platinum.

Gerbera Birthday Card – Essentials by Ellen February 2016 Mix It Up Challenge

e by e feb 2016 mix it up birthday

Here is my entry for the Essentials by Ellen February 2016 Mix It Up Challenge . This month, the challenge is to mix Essentials by Ellen products with Penny Black products. I just got this gerbera daisy stamp (Penny Black) recently – I thought I had at least one other Penny Black stamp in my collection, but nothing else came out of my stamp storage area when I commanded, “Accio, Penny Black stamps!”

I stamped the flowers/butterfly onto watercolor paper with VersaFine Smokey Gray, and let it dry. (no embossing on the main image – odd for me!) I then used my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush to paint the image. The card base was splattered with the Light Violet marker and a Wink of Stella (clear) pen.

The sentiment is from the Essentials by Ellen Wish Big set, and is embossed in Ranger Silver Pearl over white ink.

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Penny Black, paper – Canson watercolor, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Orchid Opulence (retired), ink – Papertrey Ink Fresh Snow, VersaFine Smokey Gray, ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Brown 060, Cobalt Blue 031, Light Green 041, Light Violet 081, Orange 070, Pink 025, Yellow 050, Wink of Stella clear, die – My Favorite Things, embossing powder – Ranger Silver Pearl, twine – We R Memory Keepers.

You Are a Sweetheart Note Cards – Simon Says Wednesday Challenge

you are a sweetheart duo

I have been playing with the Hello, Beautiful stamp set that came in the Simon Says Stamp February 2016 kit. Hmmmm….and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is “anything goes” using Simon Says Stamp products (if possible).

I mounted 3 heart stamps on a block and created the pink heart background for the one on the left. The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of paper, heat embossed, die cut, and finally accented with Wink of Stella. The tiny card on the right (too small to mail – but great for a lunch box or work mail box) was stamped in Satin Red and heat embossed.

Supplies: Stamps – Simon Says Stamp, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Melon Mambo, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Picked Raspberry, VersaFine Onyx Black, Satin Red, ZIG Wink of Stella clear, die – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, twine – MarkerPop.
