Paper and Ink Imaginings

just playing with paper and ink

Personalized Diamond Background Cards

The diamond background in this color blue (Distress Ink Salty Ocean) reminds me so much of the Bavarian flag! I had to add my German pretzels to it!

This one is for Offspring1. The little tiny bike came in a Hero Arts stamp set, and I was so happy that it fit within the diamonds!

I also like the image on the inked diamonds.

Designs, Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Pop-Tone Black Licorice, Stardream Metallic Gold, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Candied Apple, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, Vintage Sepia, VersaMark, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangles), Simon Says Stamp (sentiment label), embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Super Fine Detail white.

Dotted Background Cards

This dotted background works for large or small images.

I really like the graphic design possibilities of the dotted stamp.

Broken glasses because someone had LASIK surgery right before their birthday.

And the beach, because the beach is perfect!

Rectangle Block Background Cards

Using the solid rectangle stamp helped me avoid coloring or blending the background.

Crazy for Old Background Stamps!

Recently, I was simultaneously working on cards for Offspring3, mother-in-law, and my card basket. Since I am still battling a little bit of Low MOJO, I thought I would pull out old Stampin’ Up! background stamps that help fill up the front of a card (without much effort from ME!). I already had the diamond background out to work on the Project Runway inspired card.

I can’t even explain how much joy this stamping gave me!

I could just add a sentiment (like the card at the top, or this one below):

Or I could add a few accent stamps and a sentiment:

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Hero Arts, Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Pop-Tone Black Licorice, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, inks – Stampin’ Up! Soft Sky, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Candied Apple, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Oxide Ink Picked Raspberry, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangles), My Favorite Things (pierced rectangles), embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Super Fine Detail white.

Diamond Background Card – Fashion Inspired

The past few months, I have been watching episodes of Project Runway season 19 while I complete my weekly ironing on Sunday afternoons.

The episode where the contestants get to create their own fabrics (season 19, episode 4, this is the winning outfit by Shantall Lacayo) gave me this inspiration:

Bad photo taken of my basement TV!

So, I pulled out my ancient Stampin’ Up! Print Pattern background stamp and a Gina K. Designs set with tiny pieces (name unknown) and went to work.

Supplies: Stamps – Gina K. Designs, Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, Wisteria Wonder, inks – Lawn Fawn Deep Sea, VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaMark, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Simon Says Stamp (sentiment label), embossing powder – Ranger Silver Pearl.
