From the Heart Valentine

From the heart Valentine

From the heart Valentine

I created this card over the weekend, specifically for an old lady. She would grunt at me if she read that description (good thing she doesn’t “do” the internet!) – can’t you just hear the “harrumph!”? But she is the first to admit she is an old lady. I do hope that it brings a smile to her on Valentine’s Day.

Congratulations to the Ravens! That game was such a roller coaster ride! I can’t tell you the last time I watched an entire Super Bowl game.

(OK, full disclosure, I MAY have been influenced to watch because Offspring1 was home to view the game on the big TV (and if I watched, I could interact with him). AND said big TV is next to the laundry room and the laundry that he asked if he could bring home with him.   😉   )

Be My Valentine

Oh, no! Is it really February 1st? How did that happen? What happened to January? I have not made any of the Valentine cards for my family yet. ZOINKS, Scoobie!

The pink/orange heart actually started as glossy white paper, and I added pink and orange inks using an alcohol ink applicator tool (Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Applicator Tool at Ellen Hutson). The inks I used were not alcohol inks, but if you wet the felt pad with alcohol, and then add your ink, it works well. You could even use pre-moistened alcohol swabs instead of the felt pads that are included with the tool.

(note: I read about this technique on Splitcoaststampers years ago. I think the original tutorial was the Polished Stone Technique , but I eliminated the steps with the metallic ink and the sealer. )

I like the contrast of the rustic kraft card stock next to the silver glitter encrusted paper.
