Paper and Ink Imaginings

just playing with paper and ink

Tulips for Days

(click on any image to enlarge in new window!)

This past weekend I went TULIP CRAZY. Seriously.

I was inspired by a tulip stamp I saw last week – that I don’t have, I don’t have the craft funds to purchase (and, really, I would use it for March & April, then it would sit the rest of the year).

So I pulled out my old, wood mount tulip stamps. Made 16 cards, and have 2 more images (a newer, mixed bouquet stamp) colored but not made into cards yet. Always good to pull out the old stuff to see if it still works – of course it does! (why else would I have kept it in my basement this long – the old favorites ALWAYS work!)

The thank you set (of 8) is for my mother-in-law.

Graphic Style, Feminine Style or Combined?

This is the combination of graphic & feminine. This graphic birthday block stamp is a favorite of mine, but I usually only color individual blocks for a very graphic card. I took the plunge and stamped a feminine background in a light color ink, then stamped the birthday block over top. Did you see the light bulb fire over my head??? LOVE the result.

See what I mean? Very graphic. No softness.

Here is the feminine background. Lovely, but depending on the color I choose for stamping, it may look like wallpaper from maternal grandma’s house circa 1950! (Note: paternal grandma’s house had no wallpaper.)

Supplies: Stamps – Hero Arts, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Pop-Tone Black Licorice, Sour Apple, inks – Copic YG25, Lawn Fawn Fresh Lavender, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Abandoned Coral, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), Spellbinders (circles), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Foiled Shells Sympathy Card

I made this recently for personal use. The opal foil on the wisteria cardstock was just what I was looking for.

I used the leftover panel to make a thinking of you card.

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Simon Says Stamp Black, Stampin’ Up! Wisteria Wonder, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaMark, stencil – Newton’s Nook, dies – Simon Says Stamp, foil – iCraft ThermOWeb Deco Foil Opal (and iCraft Deco Foil Transfer Gel) , embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Super Fine Detail white.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day 2022

(as always, click on any image to enlarge)

My parents LOVE St. Patrick’s Day – I think the loud party aspect! My Dad does have some Irish heritage (at least 25%), my Mom has only a smidge (which she makes up for by her love of corned beef & cabbage!).

An Irish blessing:

May your troubles be less

and your blessings be more,

and nothing but happiness

come through your door.

Personalized Diamond Background Cards

The diamond background in this color blue (Distress Ink Salty Ocean) reminds me so much of the Bavarian flag! I had to add my German pretzels to it!

This one is for Offspring1. The little tiny bike came in a Hero Arts stamp set, and I was so happy that it fit within the diamonds!

I also like the image on the inked diamonds.

Supplies – Stamps – Avery Elle, Essentials by Ellen, Gina K. Designs, Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Pop-Tone Black Licorice, Stardream Metallic Gold, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Candied Apple, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, Vintage Sepia, VersaMark, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangles), Simon Says Stamp (sentiment label), embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Super Fine Detail white.

Dotted Background Cards

This dotted background works for large or small images.

I really like the graphic design possibilities of the dotted stamp.

Crazy for Old Background Stamps!

Recently, I was simultaneously working on cards for Offspring3, mother-in-law, and my card basket. Since I am still battling a little bit of Low MOJO, I thought I would pull out old Stampin’ Up! background stamps that help fill up the front of a card (without much effort from ME!). I already had the diamond background out to work on the Project Runway inspired card.

I can’t even explain how much joy this stamping gave me!

I could just add a sentiment (like the card at the top, or this one below):

Or I could add a few accent stamps and a sentiment:

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Hero Arts, Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Pop-Tone Black Licorice, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, inks – Stampin’ Up!
