Classic Pink and Red Valentine Card

My main computer saga continues here. Definitely my hard drive is not working. Main computer is just about 6 years old…average lifespan of desktop is 5 years. Do I try to replace my hard drive (and figure out how to get Windows 10 back when main computer was bought with Windows 8 but upgraded later to Windows 10???) and keep my fingers crossed that nothing else was wrong? Or do I replace the desktop tower and start anew?

Anyway, I already had my laptop set up with tools I need for blogging. I did find a spare HDMI cable and linked my laptop to my big desktop monitor, and plugged the speakers into the laptop, so I feel almost “normal”. My biggest hiccup is that I am using my laptop keyboard, but I keep rolling out the keyboard tray for the desktop. (Yes, I could plug the desktop keyboard into the laptop, but then when I want to connect my camera to download photos (quickest way), I would have to unplug sound or keyboard to free up a USB slot. First World problem, to be sure.)

I am going for classic Valentines this year! This one is for my parents.

Supplies:  Stamps – Stampin’ Up!, Taylored Expressions, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Pixie Pink (retired), inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Candy Apple, VersaFine Clair Tulip Red, die – Spellbinders, sequins – Crate Paper, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Rainbow Floral Wreath Hola Card

Another small, square card – just the way things are cropping for me right now.

For years, I have seen Laura Bassen and Jennifer McGuire make rainbow cards.

I finally took the time to TRY. (I really have something else I should be working on, so this is pure procrastination!)

Cute, right??

After I got the wreath stamped, I had a difficult time finding a sentiment to fit in the middle (this was my 4th try). Silly me, HOLA should have been my first choice since Offspring3 is traveling in a Spanish speaking country right now.  (Te amo, chica!!  😉  )

Supplies:  Stamps – Altenew, Technique Tuesday, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Grape, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Abandoned Coral, Blueprint Sketch, Broken China, Candied Apple, Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Around the Hen House Birthday Card

You will be seeing multiple chicken themed cards this week! I have wanted this Newton’s Nook stamp set since it was released, but I was unsure how many chicken cards I would actually make. So, I waited, to see how many ideas I would come up with. Thanks to Offspring3 for the gift!

I stamped the group of chickens twice (I envisioned a crowded hen house!). I lightly stenciled some clouds in the sky and a bit of dirt beneath the little chicken feet.

Supplies:  Stamps – Newton’s Nook, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Tangerine Tango, inks – Copic E11, E19, E23, E33, E51, E53, R29, YR04, YR09, Y35, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass, VersaFine Onyx Black, stencil – My Favorite Things, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Square Turquoise Daisy Birthday Card

This one was for personal use.

How were your holidays?

Ours were OK. We celebrated Christmas together as a family the weekend after Christmas, due to Offspring1 travel.

Biggest tragedy was dropping a large Pyrex mixing bowl and the glass shards *POSSIBLY* spraying into a large batch of macaroni & shrimp salad that I was making for one of my cousins on Christmas Eve. We cleaned up all the glass. Husband ran to the grocery store to purchase more shrimp. Offspring3 scooted to a local antique store and bought me a replacement Pyrex mixing bowl (she is sweet!). I made a new batch of macaroni & shrimp salad for my cousin. Husband (mostly) and Offspring3 ate all of the *possibly contaminated* macaroni & shrimp salad, with no visible complications so far.

Happy New Year! May 2020 be kind to us all!

People Issues Blended Card

I ordered the 2nd set of snarky sentiments to go with this Essentials by Ellen Voices in My Head lady. And I had a day last week when I needed someone to send this card to ME.  😉

I struggle with the background for her. This time, I blended some Distress Oxide Ink over her (she was covered with masking paper).

In case you are wondering, the inspiration for the gray stripy hair is MY HAIR. I have been growing out my hair color (18 months now – still have some colored tips on one side – the longer side of the side part), and I now have brown & gray stripy hair. Not unattractive – I am glad I have muscled through the awkward stages with no emergency highlights or super short pixie and made it to the other side!

Supplies:  Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, inks – Copic E21, E23, E37, E53, W3, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Oxide Inks Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, Vintage Sepia, die – Lawn Fawn, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
