Wish Big Birthday Card – Essentials by Ellen September 2017 Pin Sights Challenge

I am just squeaking in under the deadline wire for the Essentials by Ellen September 2017 Pin Sights Challenge . I created a mosaic using the small balloon from the Essentials by Ellen Wish Big stamp set, and I watercolored with Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks.

Here is the inspiration board:

I was originally planning to go in a different creative direction (sea glass, lower left!), BUT, I was very inspired by a trip to the Baltimore Museum of Art on Sunday. A new exhibit, Tomas Saraceno: Entangled Orbits opened October 1st. I did not go to the museum specifically for this exhibit (Offspring2 was looking for inspiration for a class assignement), but I was very glad I got to see it the exhibit in person.

Here is the specific piece that inspired me for this card:

I don’t know the exact diameter of this piece – it was suspended in a small room, we had to step over the suspension cords to move around. I would guess over 5 feet in diameter?

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Ranger Distress Watercolor, Stampin’ Up! Tangerine Tango, inks – Hero Arts Unicorn, Stampin’ Up! Bashful Blue, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Abandoned Coral, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, Ripe Persimmon, Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, dies – Spellbinders, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, white.

Watercolored Poppy Birthday Card with Swarovski Crystals

Another favorite floral stamp from my collection!

I embossed in silver, then watercolored with Sakura Koi watercolors.

Supplies: Stamps – Clearly Besotted, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Pop’Set Infra Violet, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Watercolor Cardstock, ink – VersaFine Smokey Gray, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Spellbinders (rectangle), watercolors – Sakura Koi, crystals – Swarovski Aurora Borealis, embossing powder – Ranger Silver Pearl.

Dotted Sunflower Birthday Card

My Mom’s birthday is coming up. I wanted to use a sunflower, but none of my larger sunflower stamps were what I was looking to use. So, I combined a smaller sunflower stamp with the die that fits one of my larger sunflower stamps (and, NO, I can never get the large stamp and die to match up – super frustrating!).

After I had my sunflower assembled, I started to look around for a background. This dotted A Muse paper must be 10 years old, but it is perfect here. (It came in a variety pack of colors – I have mostly just scraps left.)

In trimming the dotted paper, the scrap that was left was perfect for a note card.

Supplies: Stamps – Clearly Besotted, Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – A Muse Kitchen, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Close to Cocoa (retired), Daffodil Delight, inks – Copic E11, E25, R02, R24, R29, YG03, Y18, VersaFine Onyx Black, Vintage Sepia, dies – My Favorite Things (sunflower), Spellbinders (circles), Taylored Expressions (banner), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, twine – Martha Stewart.

Lilac, Orchid & Olive Floral Birthday Card

The Paint Prints stamp set was still on my craft table from the khaki, navy & white sympathy card.

I do love this floral in bright colors! I can’t put it away without doing something bright!

I stamped the background, embossed the flower centers, and cut a window out to display the sentiment beneath. I added the black frame to give some definition.

I keep most scraps that I cut out of collage backgrounds – why waste them??

I matted the scrap with black and added a sentiment below. TA DA! A birthday note card.

Supplies: Stamps – Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Orchid Opulence (retired), inks – Stampin’ Up! Lovely Lilac (retired), Old Olive, Orchid Opulence, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Spellbinders (wonky rectangles), Taylored Expressions (banner), sequins – Pretty Pink Posh, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, organdy ribbon – Offray.

You’re A W{anchor} Card

So…while on vacation, I found a basket full of clearance cards. I bought one, it was $1. I had to put my own spin on it.

I dry embossed the royal cardstock, then fussy cut the wave edge. I pulled out a crochet hook and did a simple chain stitch for the anchor chain using metallic thread.

Here is the original card, from the company kissmekwik in the UK:

A link to their website, if you are interested:  kissmekwik .

And, from The Urban Dictionary, I chose the 2 variations that most match my interpretation of the word “wanker”:

UK/Aus/NZ slang for:

2. Someone with a faintly sociopathic lack of regard for other people; see also arsehole.

3. Someone useless, inefficient or time-wasting, especially in a place or work and/or position of responsibility.

Supplies: Stamp – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Brushed Gold, Brushed Silver, Real Red, Soft Sky, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Memory Box (clouds), My Favorite Things (anchor), Provo Craft (letter), Spellbinders (banner), embossing folder – Darice, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, thread – Coats & Clark metallic silver.
