Paper and Ink Imaginings

Straight Off the Paper Pad Christmas Card

No stamping, no embossing, no die cutting. How easy is that?

After the holidays last year (Or was it the year before?? I have searched my receipt files, cannot find the receipt.), I bought this Recollections Red & White Christmas (12 x 12) pad on clearance at my local Michael’s store. I love that it has metallics! I knew I could use it for many things. I am suddenly a little behind on Christmas things for home this year, I may be making all of my own gift tags out of this.

Supplies: paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Recollections Red & White Christmas, Taylored Expressions Cherry Pop.

Unicorn Wish Card

My birthday was last month, and Simon Says Stamp sent me a promo code for the “free birthday set”. The free set turned out to be Magical Birthday, which includes a unicorn and a rainbow. I really like the unicorn, it is not too cartoonish.

I colored the unicorn with Copic markers, and paired it with the die cut “wish” from Taylored Expressions.

The unicorn’s horn is covered in Wink of Stella, and “wish” is die cut from silver mirror paper. I could not get either detail to show in a photo.

Supplies: Stamp – Simon Says Stamp, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Recollections Silver, Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise, inks – Copic B02, B05, BV01, C1, C3, RV14, V04, Y18, YG06, Yr04, ZIG Wink of Stella clear, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Spellbinders (squares), Taylored Expressions (wish), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, organdy ribbon – Offray.

Masking the Large Russian Stacking Doll

Last week, I posted a Stacking Dolls Card, and lamented within the post that the big doll had lines on her apron. And how I wanted to cut the lines out of the stamp, because how could I ever mask the lines off of that apron?

Yes, I bailed out. I assumed that I would not be successful masking the lines of the largest Russian Doll stamp, so I never even tried.

Encouraged by Cobs from The Cobweborium Emporium and Gillian from PaperPuff, I set out to mask the lines.

Step one – stamp on a Post It note:

I stamped both ways, not sure if it would be better to have the sticky part under the top of the apron or the bottom. (sticky under bottom of apron worked better)

Step 2 – cut the masks

Step 3 – place the mask on the stamp

Step 4 – ink the stamp

Step 5 – remove the mask before stamping.

Alternately, I tried using washi tape as well.

Step 3 – Mask with washi tape

Step 4 – ink the stamp

Step 5 – remove the washi tape before stamping.

If you look closely at the stamped dolls at the top, you can see I went 1 for 3 for “perfect” image. The one on the left, I must have inked the post it note too heavily, and the ink bled through the paper and the lines stamped anyway. The red one has a tiny little blank spot around the apron from a tiny piece of trimmed washi tape hiding on the stamp surface.

Thanks to Cobs & Gillian for the push to JUST DO IT!

Supplies: Stamp – Hero Arts, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, Satin Red, washi – Recollections.

You’re Awesome Monitor Note Card

awesome monitor note

I was happy that the Mama Elephant Blogging Buddies stamp set included the “You’re awesome” stamp. (it’s an inside joke between me and the offspring)

I used the last bit of washi tape on an old Recollections roll to ground the monitor on the gray background.

Anniversary Card – Essentials by Ellen March 2016 Mix It Up Challenge

e by e march 2016 mix it up challenge anniversary

I squeaked just under the wire for this challenge! The Essentials by Ellen March 2016 Mix It Up Challenge combines Essentials by Ellen and Pretty Pink Posh products.

My only Pretty Pink Posh purchases have been sequins, so I made a shaker card.

I embossed the large Bold Bloom onto Neenah Solar White (so I would know where to color), and then I partially die cut the bloom (Not sure why I chose to do it this way? I could have just as easily inlaid a Bold Bloom into the white paper.) I colored the cut bloom with Copics, then used a mask to protect it from stamping the smaller blooms and leaves. I mounted fun foam on the back of the white paper to create the space for the sequins, beads and glitter.

I am sending this to my in-laws as an anniversary card – it needs to mail well, so I didn’t add more sequins to the card surface.

Offspring3 celebrated a birthday this week. Time FLIES, I can’t even wrap my head around this!

Season’s Greetings Snowman Tag Card – TYIC#32

tyic32 seasons greeting snowman

I was really inspired by the latest Tag You’re It Challenge TYIC#32 .

I stamped, embossed, colored, and die cut the cute Hero Arts snowman. Added him to a tag with a sliver of glitter paper, a sentiment, baker’s twine, and a few sequins. Popped the tag onto a white card base that was embossed with a snowflake embossing folder.

Here is the inspiration for the challenge:
