Thinking of you – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#67

ric67 thinking of you

Here is my effort for the latest Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#67).

I focused on the almost optical illusion quality of the suit fabric, and the colors of the top.

Here is the inspiration outfit by Veronica Beard:

The color challenge at Splitcoaststampers has five colors this week. Usually, I find the challenges with five colors to be overwhelming. This time, though, the colors are the perfect fall palette, and I even added an extra color (green). The colors are: Cajun Craze, Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla. Dessert option of something fussy cut or die cut. The colors reminded me of high school Homecoming games and chrysanthemums.

When I was working on the poppy birthday card for my Mom last weekend, I stamped the poppy image on multiple scraps of watercolor paper and embossed them, so I would have the poppies around to color whenever the mood struck me.

I colored the flowers with stamp pads and a blender pen, letting them pretend to be brightly colored mums.

Supplies: Stamps – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Canson Montval Watercolor, Stampin’ Up! Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, Very Vanilla, inks – Stampin’ Up! Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, VersaFine Onyx Black, Vintage Sepia, dies – Papertrey Ink (border), Spellbinders (rectangle), marble dots – Queen & Co Rox (Marble Shazam), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Runway Inspired Challenge – ric#36, with CC427

My entry for the current Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#36), with the addition of the colors for this week’s Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge (CC427 – Cherry Cobbler, Early Expresso, Marina Mist).

Electric Feathers Fall 2013 (style) ric 36

My eye went to the background on this inspiration piece.

Normally, I would be drawn to the perfect triangles in the sweater. I needed to figure out how to recreate that background. I found some mulberry paper in my stash, but none of it was the right color. Hmmm…Copics might help me with that? I colored Copic R39 (Garnet) over lime green mulberry paper. And it worked. I substituted the Papertrey Ink Victorian Lace Border die (is it me, or does it look like Hershey Kiss cross sections??) for the triangles, cut it twice (once in Chocolate Chip, once in Creamy Caramel), and pieced it together.

Supplies: Paper – Papertrey Ink Cream, Stampin’ Up! Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel (retired), Marina Mist, mulberry paper (brights – retired), ink – Copic R39, die – Papertrey Ink, flower punch – Martha Stewart, stones – Queen&Co. ROX, twine – Martha Stewart.
