Stegosaurus Family Baby Card

So, I finally figured out how to execute the baby card I had in my head. This is something one of my cousins requested, it is an A6 card (a little bigger than my usual card).

I stamped the mirror image stegosaurus (the one on the right) first – because I kept screwing it up. Took about 6 tries to get it right (with a MISTI and a Paper Smooches Mirror block), and Jennifer’s McGuire’s very helpful Mirror Stamping video streaming while I was working. After that was done, I stamped the other stegosaurus and the baby, and masked them all. Next came the nest, rocks and trees, and they got masked as well. I blended ink for the grass and sky. After removing all my masks, I said a silent prayer that I WOULD NOT SCREW UP while coloring with my Copic markers!

Square Thinking of You Card

My blogging buddy, Lekha, sent me the photo below, hoping it would be inspirational for me. Guess what, Lekha, IT WORKED!

I had an ancient square A Muse note card (Mod Dots in Popsicle Pink), and I thought that would be my circle jumping point. I die cut Paper Smooches flowers and dots (using dryer sheets to keep them in place – which backfired a bit with the second run through the die cut machine – the dryer sheet stuck to the paper).

I added a sentiment on black as a nod to the edges of the inspiration bowls (which may not be black in person!). A few white dots with the Kirarina WiNK white pen finished it all off.

You Make My Heart Smile Note Card

I found these watercolored flowers and leaves in my scrap pile, and decided it was finally time to use them!

I had painted on watercolor paper, and then die cut flowers and leaves for a birthday card. I didn’t want to throw the watercolored paper away, so I die cut smaller flowers and leaves out of the leftovers.

Watercolor Stenciling Trio of Cards

On Monday, the post on the Simon Says Stamp Blog was Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: Watercolor Stenciling. I was very inspired by the backgrounds that Nina-Marie was able to create with stencils and distress inks.

I pulled out a few stencils and some Distress Inks and made three different backgrounds. Of course, I am never quite satisfied with the wet version of any watercoloring. I must set it aside and wait to see the dry version.

The next day, I did see backgrounds that were at least useable! I will definitely try this technique again.

Watercolored Embossed Note Card – Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge this week is One Layer, and they are highlighting Paper Smooches products.

I have one set of Paper Smooches sentiment stamps (Uplifters), and one set of Paper Smooches dies (Pocket). I embossed the flower dies into a note card cut out of watercolor paper, and used Sakura Koi watercolors to paint the embossed outlines. After the paper was dry, I heat embossed the sentiment.

WOW Bright Hibiscus Card

A quick encouragement (or congrats, maybe?) card with bright hibiscus blooms. I stamped the turquoise one first, then masked it and stamped the coral one. Finally, I masked both and stamped the lavender one.

Silly Cow Balloon Card

I had the idea for this card about a week ago, finally had time to execute the design.

The Very Punny set by Stampin’ Up! (retired), has a cow and a pig that are drawn a bit round, and their legs do not quite touch on flat ground. Last week, working with the pig, I realized they would make perfect balloons.

And the Essentials by Ellen Wish Big bird would be the perfect guy to hold them.

I looked for a cow related sentiment in my stash, and did not find one. Since the scene is a little absurd, I thought admitting it was giggle worthy would be good.

Essentials by Ellen July 2015 Mix It Up Challenge

This month’s Essentials by Ellen Mix It Up Challenge is with Paper Smooches. Luckily enough, I have one stamp set from each company.

The flowers are Essentials by Ellen Bold Blooms, and the sentiment is from Paper Smooches Uplifters. I added a few dots with a Copic Multiliner, and the centers of the flowers are colored with Wink of Stella clear.
