Paper and Ink Imaginings

Ink Blended Hola Cards

As I have mentioned, I am struggling with creative mojo. Last week, I had an overwhelming desire to just sit and blend ink. This happened.

YAY!

Have a great day!

Supplies:  Stamps – Cornish Heritage Farms, Technique Tuesday, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, Strathmore Bristol, inks: Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Broken China, Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, Wilted VIolet, VersaFine Clair Twilight, VersaMark, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Spellbinders (flower), Technique Tuesday (hola), stencil – Heidi Swapp, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Super Fine Detail white.

New Place Card

Someone close to me moved to a new apartment a few weeks ago. This is what I came up with to congratulate/commemorate the event

Supplies:  Paper – Canson watercolor, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy,  Ruby Red (maybe? whatever it is, it is retired!)), Sahara Sand, Smoky Slate, dies – Hero Arts (buildings), Memory Box (clouds), watercolor – don’t remember!, DYMO label maker.

Plaid Sympathy Card

I needed to make this quickly for my Mom to drop in the mail.

As always, sympathy cards are difficult. Do you make the card to appeal to the person you are sending it to? Or to reflect the person they lost?

This one reflects the person who passed away.

Supplies:  Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Taylored Expressions, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand, inks – Stampin’ Up! Marina Mist (retired), VersaFine Clair Twilight, dies – Hero Arts (leaves), Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder.

Running Horse Birthday Card

I made something similar to this last month. Just using the extra horse that I watercolored.

It is going to Cousin Pati – I inadvertently ghosted her on a few card requests last fall. (I think I was overwhelmed with in-law care & paperwork at the time.)

Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise (retired), Strathmore Bristol, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, ZIG Real Brush Clean Color Pens, die – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), embossing folder – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder.

Small Things Card

Hey there!

I finally spent a little time at my craft table again. It was nice to be stamping, coloring and ink blending.

I made a mask out of scrap paper and blended ink clouds within the oval. The hummingbird colors were from a Google image search – the wings of the hummingbird I chose were so translucent they appeared to be pale purple gray.

My final product is OK – it is not balanced, but I don’t have anything in my stash to add to the left.  (I would love to have a smaller hummingbird facing right to add there!) I should have added more blooms to the left – poor planning on my part. I added the turquoise organdy ribbon to help – and I think it does balance it a little more.

Life has been…interesting? That’s not right, but it’s the best I can come up with. Not busy – I have plenty of time and no focus. Stressful – some (parental health issues).

We did get away to the beach for a week. (Our vacation has been renting a single family home, spending time on a not crowded beach, and having carryout for dinner for years now – no big change.) I appreciated the time away, we had beautiful sunsets and entertaining seagulls. Biggest question:  why the heck was Dairy Queen “closed for the season” in early August???

Pastel Wildflowers Birthday Card

Yes, after not crafting for almost a month, I chose to color the wildflowers. AGAIN.

I did challenge myself to use a much softer pastel color palette.

This is getting dropped in the mail this week.

Hope you are well.

Pandemic summer continues. I have a new hobby – checking the annuals that I planted around the house every morning to see what the local deer have devoured overnight. They like impatiens and celosia best (mine are down to nubs), have skipped the petunias, vincas and salvia. I am not sure if they are eating the portulucas, or just ripping them out of the ground and spitting them out.

Supplies:  Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Wisteria Wonder (retired), inks – Copic BV00, BV04, G00, R20, Y06, YG0000, YG03, YG25, W00, VersaFine Onyx Black, sequins – Pretty Pink Posh, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Regal Rose Gerbera Daisy Birthday Card

I used my ZIG real brush pens to wash a coral-y mix of pink and orange over this daisy (stamped on Bristol cardstock). After die cutting, I mounted on some neutral Amy Tangerine paper. Sadly, when I went to pull cardstock for matting and the sentiment, I found I was out of the old Stampin’ Up! Cameo Coral (a soft pastel coral). I did find a sheet of Regal Rose in my stash, it is close enough for this.

Dropped into the mail to a family member, HOPEFULLY arriving on time for Thursday birthday!

Supplies:  Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Papertrey Ink, paper – American Crafts Amy Tangerine On A Whim, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Regal Rose (retired), Strathmore Bristol, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens Brown (060), Light Green (041), Orange (070), Pink (025), dies – Essentials by Ellen (daisy), My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Geo Leaves Birthday Card Duo

I made these cards with the Simon Says Stamp Geo Leaves stencil. The card on the left is going to my father-in-law, he is turning 91 this week.

I hope your week got off to a good start!

Supplies:  Stamp – PaperTrey Ink, paper – Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Strathmore Bristol, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, VersaMark, stencil – Simon Says Stamp, enamel dots – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Sterling Silver.

Peony Bouquet Cards

I have had this Peony Bouquet stencil in my shopping cart since it debuted. FINALLY caught it in stock. I blended the inks a little vigorously (note to self:  order the temporary spray adhesive for stencils!) and had to add a few petal lines back with a SIGNO Uniball white pen. The hello version is top fold, birthday version is side fold.

How are things in your world?

Things here are OK. Hubby has a “return to work” date. Offspring3 and I have stalled on jigsaw puzzle #5 (2,000 pieces), and now I am tired of moving it to vacuum. My walking tan is almost to “beach week” shade.

My parents have rebelled and released themselves from quarantine! I told them 2 stores a week…they are doing 2 stores a DAY.

I get it, but still…HEAVY SIGH.

Maybe they will slow down after they realize how exhausting it is to be out?

Supplies:  Stamps – My Favorite Things, Papertrey Ink, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Strathmore Bristol, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, stencil – Simon Says Stamp, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear

More Wildflower Cards

Yes, once I started with this wildflower stamp, I COULD NOT STOP.

The card on the left was a request from Offspring3 after she saw the first wildflower card.

The cards on the left and in the middle are both watercolored using ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens and an aqua brush.

The card on the right was stamped first in Distress Inks, then watercolored with an aqua brush, finally overstamped with the image again in black ink (and embossed). It is supposed to be a loose watercolor, but I don’t know if I went “loose” enough – it might just appear to be mistakes! I did splatter some matching ink over it when dry.

All three are Strathmore Bristol paper – so the color would flow effortlessly with the aqua brush.

Supplies:  Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Technique Tuesday, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Pixie Pink (retired), Poppy Parade, Strathmore Bristol, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Abandoned Coral, Candied Apple, Mowed Lawn, Picked Raspberry, VersaFine Onyx Black, ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens Black (010), Brown (060), Carmine Red (022), Light Green (041), Light Violet (081), Orange (070), Pink (025), Yellow (050), embossing powder Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
