Stowaway Cards

Offspring3 went to Spain for 5 weeks this summer for a study abroad program.

#missedher

Of course I stashed some cards in her suitcase. For the times that Skype and Facebook messaging were not quite tactile enough.

Most of the cards contain an image or paper that she has gifted me.

Blue Cameras Smile Note Card

Go ahead – SMILE. I dare you.

While I was trying to come up with WORDS for this post, I got thinking about the musical version of the word smile (which is much more melancholic than my card!). I searched on YouTube. I love Tony Bennett’s version from 1959 – which I am 99% sure was in my Dad’s record collection, but that only had a photo (no video).  Martina McBride’s version is beautiful, so that’s what you get.

Supplies: Paper – American Crafts Amy Tangerine On A Whim, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, dies – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), Taylored Expressions (word).

Stamp Collection Birthday Note Card

I was digging through scrapbooking paper scraps, and found this old stamp collection piece.

Supplies: Stamp – Papertrey Ink, paper – Gartner Studios (stamps), Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, Stampin’ Up! Elegant Eggplant, ink – VersaFine Vintage Sepia, die – My Favorite Things, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, linen thread – Stampin’ Up!

Snarky Note Cards

These 3 sentiments came in a collection with 4 lovely, encouraging sentiments. I love the snark, and 2 of the 3 are more self-deprecating, but you have to know the recipient really, really well to send one of these cards.

I think I might gift them to a friend who would take comfort in knowing she had the ammo, but never really use them.

Supplies: Stamps – Ranger, paper – American Crafts Amy Tangerine On A Whim, Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, Pool Party, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), Spellbinders (rectangle, square), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
