Almost Madras Square Birthday Card

My father turned 83 this week! This is one of the cards I made for him. The On A Whim paper reminded me of a madras sport shirt (he loves colorful plaid shirts in the summer). He didn’t notice – he was blinded by the batch of low fat brownie bites I made for him.  😉

Supplies: Stamp – Papertrey Ink, paper – American Crafts Amy Tangerine On A Whim, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, ink – VersaMark, die – My Favorite Things, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Sterling Silver.

Pineapple Hello Note Card

I splurged recently and bought the die that coordinated with the pineapple stamp set (gifted to me by Offspring3 last fall).

I stamped the greenery on green cardstock, and cut it out using the pineapple die. Then, I put yellow cardstock into the Provo Craft Textile embossing folder and embossed it. I rubbed tan ink over the raised areas, and cut it using the pineapple die. I guesstimated where the fruit/foliage line would be, and cut with scissors.

Supplies: Stamps – Hero Arts, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, inks – Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, VersaFine Vintage Sepia, dies – Hero Arts (pineapple), My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), embossing folder – Provo Craft, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Floral Photo Note Card

I have to admit, I am running behind this week.

The kitchen renovation is almost done (waiting for countertop to be installed, then on to backsplash), we have no workers in the house this week. (Note to self: scrub floor while they are out!)

I have a bunch of medical appointments over the next 10 days (kidney stone made me schedule every “annual exam” that I had been avoiding!).

So, I am flying by the seat of my pants, card wise. I pulled out my floral scrap folder, and found 3 flowers and a piece of foliage. The sentiment and frame were in other scrap folders. I mounted the 3 flowers at different levels (back coral is flat, yellow is on glue dots, front coral is attached to back of frame, frame is mounted with foam adhesive), so it has a very nice shadowbox effect in person.

Have a good Wednesday!

Supplies: Stamps – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), Stampin’ Up! (flowers, foliage), Taylored Expressions (frame), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder Clear.

Awesome with Night Sky Background Card

Well, Kristina Werner made me try a watercolored night sky again.  😉

She posted this beautiful envelope art a few weeks ago, Kristina Werner Outer Space Envelope Art , and I had to give it another try.

So, I watercolored with Ranger Distress Inks, and let it dry. Then, I came in with Kuretake black, and let that dry. Finally, I used Kuretake white and pearl white to make the splatters. You really have to just keep going – at multiple points in the process, I HATED IT, thought it looked awful. The end product is good.

Supplies: Stamp – My Favorite Things, paper – Canson watercolor, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, Wild Honey, VersaFine Onyx Black, watercolors – Kuretake Gansai Tambi, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Spellbinders (rectangle), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
