Paper and Ink Imaginings

just playing with paper and ink

I Love Naps & You Card

The Taylored Expressions Grumpling set strikes again!

I blended a little ink behind the window to ground the grumpling.

Supplies: Stamps – Taylored Expressions, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Real Red, inks – Copic 110, E21, E53, R20, R29, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Hickory Smoke, Tumbled Glass, VersaFine Onyx Black.

Stars and Stripes Birthday Card

Hello, hello!

I am still struggling with my creativity.

My father-in-law’s birthday is very close to the 4th of July, and, as usual, one of his cards turned out patriotic.

The open stars die was a freebie with a Taylored Expressions order (thanks, Offspring3!). I cut 2 to fill the front of this card, and used the solid stars to fill in around the edges.

Supplies: Stamp – Papertrey Ink, paper – Gmund Royal, My Favorite Things Very Merry, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, ink – VersaMark, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Taylored Expressions (open stars), embossing powder – Ranger Ultra Fine white.

Here is the dahlia stencil again! I wanted to make it look like a tie dye spiral pattern this time.

L.O.V.E. how this turned out!

Pride Month Inspired Cards

Hello!

I was inspired by an Instagram hop (or blog hop? or both?) for Pride Month that I saw recently.

Here is another card, I used a strip that was left over from the card above.

My hopes for everyone: living your most authentic life, without fear or discrimination, with supportive people around you, and LOVE.

My crafting mojo has been absent for a while. I did crank out 6 cards over the weekend – just playing with stencils I had not used before. It felt wonderful to be inky. Hopefully, the mojo will stick around. Life has been really busy – taking care of parents and trying to get in-laws approved for a better living arrangement.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Stamps – Simon Says Stamp, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Desert Storm, PopTone Black Licorice, Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Grape, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Abandoned Coral, Blueprint Sketch, Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaMark, dies – Lawn Fawn, My Favorite Things, stencil – Taylored Expressions, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Super Fine Detail white.

Ocean Theme Baby Card

This was a request from Cousin Pati. Baby boy card for a baby shower. Whales if possible.

Yikes! I have no whales.

But a little school of foiled fish with a stenciled/blended ocean background – I can do that.

Supplies: Stamps – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Strathmore Bristol, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaMark, stencil – My Favorite Things, dies – Simon Says Stamp (banner), Spellbinders (circles), Sugar Pea Designs (onesie), foil – ThermOWeb Rainbow Shattered Glass, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Softball Themed Birthday Card

My Dad celebrated his birthday over the weekend. His softball season has started again, it is almost all he talks about, so I (yet again!) went with a softball theme for his card. Note to self – find some new sports themed stamps for next year!

I die cut a circle and drew in the stitches in Prismacolor pencil. I hope it doesn’t look like I recycled a card I made for him while in elementary school. I didn’t have all these supplies back then!

I procrastinated until the last minute on this. Well, part  procrastination (kept hoping for a different idea!), part working on other things.

Supplies:  Stamp – Papertrey Ink, paper – My Favorite Things Field Day, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Desert Storm, ink – VersaMark, dies – Simon Says Stamp (banner strip), Spellbinders (circle), embossing folder – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Ranger Super Fine Detail white.

Hummingbird Trio Birthday Card

This was created for my mother-in-law’s recent birthday.

Repurposed Lilly Pulitzer Paper Encouragement Cards

BLOG MILESTONE:

This is post number 2,000.

I started blogging back in 2013 – it seems a lifetime ago.

Thanks for all of your comments and likes!

Back in 2016, I did a post titled Trash to Treasure – Lilly Pulitzer , about using a cut up advertisement as background paper.

I still have some of the wrapping paper and cut up advertisement, and I used it for some new encouragement cards. Aren’t these sentiments great??

I did two coats of the white embossing powder to get complete coverage.

Supplies:  Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Simon Says Stamp, paper – Lilly Pulitzer, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaMark, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), My Favorite Things (pierced rectangles), embossing powders – Ranger Super Fine Detail white, Stampendous detail clear.

Paint Chip Cards and the return of the missing mojo…

My creative mojo has been mostly absent for the past year. Pandemic concerns. Elder care and assistance.

But crafting has been my art therapy, my happy place for 18 years.

Was I bored with my crafting?

Was I overwhelmed with the crafting industry “buy this now” monthly release push? That answer has been YES for a while. (Yes, I know my being overwhelmed is MY problem, not a problem with the industry!) Sensory overload for me.

Was it time to move on?

So, I have been struggling along, making the bare minimum of cards for family.

I finished making my New Years cards in mid January (because I bailed on making Christmas cards, but I had purchased holiday postage stamps – have to send something!), and here come Valentine’s Day cards…

But my mojo peeked out from under the couch next to my craft table and asked me…

I am enjoying crafting. I have ideas. I STILL LOVE COLOR.

Alas, I have discovered that my card basket is very picked over (thanks to Offspring3 and my cousins! Love you! ❤ ). Lots of categories that need to be refilled.

Paint chips were begging to be stamped upon. So, two cards to help refill the basket.

Supplies:  Stamps – Clearly Besotted, Essentials by Ellen, My Favorite Things, paper – Behr paint chips (Home Depot), Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, ink – VersaMark, dies – Essentials by Ellen (hello), Simon Says Stamp (sentiment strip), embossing powders – Gina K Designs Fine Detail Silver, Stampin’ Up! Classy Copper
