For Pop – Thinking of You Card

carl thinking of you

Today is the 30th anniversary of my maternal grandfather’s death. He lived a long life (80 years). He loved his family. He was such a kind man.

1983 was such a year of milestones for him. He and my grandmother celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He turned 80. We celebrated my graduation from college.

Pop could make something out of anything. He could fix everything. His basement was a hoarder’s paradise – you never know when you might need it!

So, I picked through my scraps, tags and odd things to make this card. I had intended on using the other side of the Dockers tag, but the quote on the back took my breath away. Serendipity! My grandparents were not fancy, but far from ordinary. I had to add a gum wrapper – Pop always had gum or hard candy in his pockets.

This is a birthday card for a family member who has a birthday very close to Independence Day. I try to make a patriotic card for him each year.

I used the A Muse ArtStamp Bursting Blooms stamp for my fireworks (I didn’t ink the stems).

I saw that the MOJO Monday blog was celebrating its 300th sketch on Monday,  so I used that sketch to guide my design. Here is the post, MOJO Monday 300 Celebration .

Graduation Card for Offspring2

j grad card

Here is the graduation card that I made for Offspring2’s graduation today. High school colors are blue and white, eventual college colors are red, white, black (and yellow, which I omitted). Graduation is held at an outdoor concert venue (covered, but open air). Temps are to be near 90 degrees, which is 10 degrees cooler than when Offspring1 graduated.

(I am in denial that Offspring2 is old enough to be graduating! The last 4 years seem like the blink of an eye.)
