Here is the latest Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#54).

The inspiration for this challenge is a Diane Von Furstenberg design:

I went minimal on this one. I love the dress, but I know I would get caught up trying to put every.single.color. into my design. I based my design on the colors of the background, and the black and white polka dot elements of the dress.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Stamps – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Papertrey Ink White, Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, YoYo Yellow (retired), inks – Stampin’ Up! Tempting Turquoise, VersaFine Onyx Black, washi tape – K&Company, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

pti printables contest thank you

Papertrey Ink is celebrating their 7th anniversary over on Nicole Heady’s blog – Capture the Moment.

Papertrey October 2013 Blog Hop Challenge

pti oct 2013 holiday tags

This month, the Papertrey Ink challenge was to create (at least) 5 gift tags to be used for the holidays. Time is not my friend this week, so I did create just 5 tags (for now).

As usual, I struggled with supply issues. I have a limited number of Papertrey Ink stamps, and not many of them adapt to be used for a holiday theme.  So, I made sure to use Papertrey Ink paper and dies. (I keep entering every random drawing Papertrey Ink has, hoping to score a gift certificate! Mathematically, it should happen, right??) I cut the bottom tier and the trunk off of each of the trees that I cut with the Merry and Bright tree die so that they would fit on the circle background. I made the bookmarks two layers for strength.

Here are the backs of the bookmark tags:

Offspring3 was very complimentary of these tags while I was photographing. I do make gift tags every year, using leftover scraps (lots of odd sized gift tags at our house!), but not usually this ornate.

The black velvet was originally purchased to display Offspring1’s kindergarten Science Fair project – The Solar System. (talk about “blast from the past” memories!)

Supplies: Stamps – Papertrey Ink (Out on a Limb, Tiny Treats Valentines), Stampin’ Up! (Merry & Bright), paper – Papertrey Ink Kraft, White, Stampin’ Up! textured Wild Wasabi, inks – Copic BV01, E53, R29, YR68, Stampin’ Up! Real Red, Wild Wasabi, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Papertrey Ink (Bookmark, Mega Mat Stack 3, Merry & Bright), Spellbinders (circle), red satin ribbon – Ellen Hutson, turquoise grosgrain – Stampin’ Up! (retired), metallic cords – PaperMart, washi tape – K&Company, Tim Holtz, Stickles (Crystal), jewels – A Muse Twinkle Stickers.

PPA168 – Thinking of You Silver Daisy Card

PPA168 thinking of you

I thought I would play along with the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge this week.  I used black and white washi tape as a layer, and embossed silver daisies on turquoise.  The little tiny flower on the tag is a sequin with a candy dot in the center.

Here is the sketch:
