Oh, come on, you had to see this one coming from a mile away!
I used paint chips, sample paper, and dies.
I order envelopes and paper from a company called Paper-Papers. With every order, you get a random sample pack of scraps. I LOVE THIS! Would I really order a pack of 25 sheets of all of the colors? No. But the scraps are great for accents and projects like this. Paper-Papers even puts a label listing the contents on the sample pack, so you know what you are using.
Supplies: Paper – Home Depot, Lowe’s Paint Chips, Stampin’ Up! Brushed Silver, Malmero Perle White, Stardream Metallics Azalea, Dolomite, Emerald, Juniper, dies – Impression Obsession (snowflakes on large paint chips), My Favorite Things (snowflakes on small aqua paint chips), Reverse Confetti (holly & berries), Stampin’ Up! (ornament/hanger), The Cat’s Pajamas (largest snowflake), cord – Offray, metallic cord – PaperMart.
Me, being the overachiever that I am, used silver and gold, and a shimmery white that has a touch of gold. And pearls.
The back of the tag is gold, with silver embossing.
(Look at how much the light changed in my family room in an hour!)
The challenge runs through December 17, 2016. AND, there is going to be a random drawing from all of the qualifying entries for $150 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store. Have you posted an entry yet??
Supplies: Stamp – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Curious Ice Gold, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stardreams Gold (back of tag), Silver, ink – VersaMark, dies – Impression Obsession (snowflakes), Lawn Fawn (stitched hillside), Taylored Expressions (tag), Swarovski pearls, embossing powder – Stampendous! Gold Detail, gold cord – Stampin’ Up! (retired), organdy/satin ribbon – PaperMart.
Offspring3 tasked me with making a card for a friend.
I cut rectangles out of a Heidi Swapp MINC toner sheet (large enough to fit the butterfly die), and ran them through the laminator with various foils. After they were cool, I die cut the butterflies.
Supplies: Stamp – Papertrey Ink, paper – Heidi Swapp MINC Toner Sheet, My Mind’s Eye, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Taylored Expressions Build A Scene, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Impression Obsession (butterfly), Spellbinders (circle), foil – Heidi Swapp, ThermOWeb, embossing powder – Ranger Silver Pearl.
I was rummaging through my stash of scraps, and found this background that I made…maybe a dozen year ago? There is a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers called Polished Stone by Beate Johns. I am pretty sure I modified the technique by using BD Alcohol Swabs and an original rectangular Tim Holtz Blending Tool. (These were suggestions by other card makers in the Splitcoaststampers forums.). And with this one, I did not add the metallic ink or use the sealer mentioned in the tutorial.
ANYWAY, the colors caught my eye while I was rummaging, and this card happened. And, no, I didn’t mis-stamp my sentiment, Reverse Confetti seems to like fonts with funky “s” execution.
Thanks for stopping by!

I pulled out a few stencils and some Distress Inks and made three different backgrounds. Of course, I am never quite satisfied with the wet version of any watercoloring. I must set it aside and wait to see the dry version.
The next day, I did see backgrounds that were at least useable! I will definitely try this technique again.

I painted this purple circle sometime last week, and then couldn’t decide how to use it on a card.
My butterfly dies were calling to me this morning, so here we are. I splattered some diluted Wink of Stella onto the watercolor paper before mounting the butterfly and sentiment.
