Paper and Ink Imaginings

Positive and Negative Snowflake Season’s Greetings Card

I had a scrap of silver mirror paper, with snowflakes cut out…I needed to figure out how to use it. Turns out it was not square/even (I kept it, need to figure out if I have a shape die that will preserve most of it!), so I made a new scrap, and saved the center pieces of the snowflakes to glue onto the design. The mirror piece was mounted on Shine shimmering paper.

Before I got around to photographing the above card, I got serious with the other leftover snowflake scrap. I decided an oval die would preserve the most for me.

The snowflakes I added were cut from Shimmering White card stock.

I am linking this up to Simon Says Stamp’s Christmas Card Day post – the random winner will get a $100 gift card.

Khaki Royal Diagonal Birthday

Khaki and royal (or navy) is a go to color combination for me when working on masculine cards.

I used the diagonal cutting plate on the khaki cardstock, and I had every intention in taking the pieces out and adding royal stripes into the khaki frame. BUT, I didn’t use a shim when cutting, and the pieces did not cut all the way through. As Bob Ross used to say, “we don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.”

You’re A W{anchor} Card

So…while on vacation, I found a basket full of clearance cards. I bought one, it was $1. I had to put my own spin on it.

I dry embossed the royal cardstock, then fussy cut the wave edge. I pulled out a crochet hook and did a simple chain stitch for the anchor chain using metallic thread.

Here is the original card, from the company kissmekwik in the UK:

And, from The Urban Dictionary, I chose the 2 variations that most match my interpretation of the word “wanker”:

UK/Aus/NZ slang for:

2. Someone with a faintly sociopathic lack of regard for other people; see also arsehole.

3. Someone useless, inefficient or time-wasting, especially in a place or work and/or position of responsibility.

Green LEGO Birthday Note Card

Offspring3 needed a small birthday card for a little boy turning 4. I dug through my paper stash, and found a scrap of green LEGO paper that was large enough for a note card. The LEGO paper is textured – the dots are raised, and the brick edges are debossed.

I really need to see if I can find more of this paper! (off to the Google machine I go!)

Supplies: Stamp – Papertrey Ink, paper – Creative Imaginations LEGO paper, Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Provo Craft (4), Spellbinders (circle), Taylored Expressions (banner), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
