Paper and Ink Imaginings

just playing with paper and ink

Gym Pansy Note Card

Sometimes the ideas just have to play through, and I have to execute the silly inside joke to just get it out of my creative way.

My husband and I are both lucky enough to have rather healthy parents, all 4 of them are in their 80’s. Hearing skills, not so much.

On a recent visit, one of the oldsters was describing a sound as something from a CHIMPANZEE. The other oldster in the room processed the word as GYM PANSY. And just couldn’t quite make the connection to the actual word.

I thought I would pee my pants laughing when the story was relayed to me.

All I could see was a chimpanzee in a Halloween type costume (think Elizabethan collar purple pansy) at our gym.

This is what happened.  Offspring3 will appreciate it.

I do remember my mother planting pansies at our house in Connecticut (we lived there for almost 8 years – I was 3 – 10 years old). I remember weeding the flower beds. I don’t remember her ever planting them at other houses we lived in. I will have to ask her if there was something special about the soil or climate that led to her choice. Or if it was just something my grandfather (he could grow anything!) suggested.

I promise to move on to something more helpful & relevant!  🙂

Purple, Aqua, Navy and Silver Floral Birthday Card

This is a square card that I made for personal use. I was really happy with the color combination.

Supplies: Stamps – Hero Arts, Papertrey Ink, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stardream Metallics Silver, inks – Gina K. Designs Wild Lilac, Lawn Fawn Merman, VersaFine Clair Twilight, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Spellbinders, sequins – Darice, embossing powder – Ranger Silver Pearl.

A Friend Like You Card

This is another great sentiment from Gina K. Designs.

I am not sure how I embossed the background (it was in my scrap folder) – I think I stamped in Deep Lagoon and then embossed with Silver Pearl powder.

Supplies: Stamps – Gina K. Designs, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Poptone Razzle Berry, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, inks – VersaFine Deep Lagoon, Onyx Black, dies – Spellbinders, embossing powders – Ranger Silver Pearl, Stampendous Detail clear, organdy ribbon – Offray.

Labrador Favorite Human Card

This sentiment was included in the Gina K. Designs stamp set that came with the wreath builder templates.

Supplies: Stamps – Gina K Designs, Taylored Expressions, paper – Crate Paper Fa La La, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Pacific Point, inks – Copic B24, E33, R21, R29, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Spellbinders (square), Taylored Expressions (dog), embossing powder – Stampendous Detail clear.

Floral Wreath Birthday Card

I finally took the plunge and bought the Gina K. Designs Wreath Builder Bundle (stamp set, 2 wreath templates). YES, I have made my own wreath template, but mine was limited by the size of the largest square die I have (3.5 inches). The 2 included with the bundle are 3.75 and 4 inches.

Here is my first wreath with the 3.75 inch template and some of the small scale stamps. The finished card measures 4.25 inches square. I don’t have square envelopes this size, I just use a regular A2 (holds 4.25 x 5.5 inch card) envelope, with a strip of paper measuring 1.25 x 4.25 inches glued into one end of the envelope (so the card will not slide around).

Supplies: Stamps – Avery Elle, Gina K. Designs, Simon Says Stamp, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, inks – Gina K. Designs Blue Raspberry, Key Lime, Wild Lilac, VersaFine Onyx Black, embossing powder – Stampendous Detail clear.

You Are Furtastic Cat Card

I’ve been wanting to build a wreath of the small cat related items in Simon Says Stamp’s Playful Kittens stamp set for a while. (Not sure WHY I wanted to do this wreath – I have no pets (allergies), and I am more of a dog person!) Here it is!

Supplies: Stamps – Simon Says Stamp, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Going Gray (retired blast from the past!), Pacific Point, inks – Copic B05, C1, C3, R11, YR04, Gina K. Designs Blue Raspberry, Lawn Fawn Manatee, VersaFine Onyx Black, die – Lawn Fawn, corner punch – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Stampendous Detail clear.

Royal and Key Lime You Made My Day Card

I made several color options of the Rustic Botanicals background while the stamps were on my MISTI last week.

And I was gifted a few new inks on my birthday (thanks Offspring3 & Offspring1!!), this one is Gina K. Designs Key Lime. LOVE IT.

I am trying to decide which brands of ink pads I like – my Stampin’ Up! pads have seen better days (and I don’t like their coverage with clear stamps). I am loving the Gina K. and the Lawn Fawn pads. I also have a few Simon Says Stamp pads, I have to pull them out and do a sample sheet that matches the sample sheet I did for the most recent ones so I am comparing apples to apples.

I am delivering cards to HorseSpirit Arts Gallery at Historic Savage Mill today! The grand opening is Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 10:00am. There will be a reception from 5:00 – 9:00pm that evening.

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, inks – Gina K. Designs Key Lime, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Spellbinders (circles), embossing powder – Stampendous Detail clear.
