Paper and Ink Imaginings

just playing with paper and ink

Adventure Bikes Card

I had one of my bike stamps out, working on a card for personal use…and this one had to play through first. I used a Gina K. Designs wreath builder template to stamp the bike in the corners.

Supplies:  Stamps – Hampton Arts, PinkFresh Studio, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Pop Tone Black Licorice, Stampin’ Up! Soft Sky, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, VersaFine Clair Nocturne, die – Spellbinders, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Stuck on You Desert Card

I used this as one of my punny Valentine cards – but it works for a LOVE card, too.

Lots of masking to stamp the cacti and succulents, with a touch of Copic coloring to fill in.

After a month of trying, I was able to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments for both of my parents (in their mid 80’s). We go this week for shot #1, and then again the last week of March for shot #2.

Now I get to figure out the scheduling system in my in-laws home state.

Supplies:  Stamps – Newton’s Nook, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Wild Wasabi, inks – Copic B0000, E51, E53, Gina K. Designs Jelly Bean, Key Lime, Lawn Fawn Freshly Cut Grass, Mermaid, Merman, Taylored Expressions Lime Zest, VersaFine Onyx Black, embossing powder – Stampendous Detail clear.

Paint Chip Cards and the return of the missing mojo…

My creative mojo has been mostly absent for the past year. Pandemic concerns. Elder care and assistance.

But crafting has been my art therapy, my happy place for 18 years.

Was I bored with my crafting?

Was I overwhelmed with the crafting industry “buy this now” monthly release push? That answer has been YES for a while. (Yes, I know my being overwhelmed is MY problem, not a problem with the industry!) Sensory overload for me.

Was it time to move on?

So, I have been struggling along, making the bare minimum of cards for family.

I finished making my New Years cards in mid January (because I bailed on making Christmas cards, but I had purchased holiday postage stamps – have to send something!), and here come Valentine’s Day cards…

But my mojo peeked out from under the couch next to my craft table and asked me…

I am enjoying crafting. I have ideas. I STILL LOVE COLOR.

Alas, I have discovered that my card basket is very picked over (thanks to Offspring3 and my cousins! Love you! ❤ ). Lots of categories that need to be refilled.

Paint chips were begging to be stamped upon. So, two cards to help refill the basket.

Supplies:  Stamps – Clearly Besotted, Essentials by Ellen, My Favorite Things, paper – Behr paint chips (Home Depot), Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, ink – VersaMark, dies – Essentials by Ellen (hello), Simon Says Stamp (sentiment strip), embossing powders – Gina K Designs Fine Detail Silver, Stampin’ Up! Classy Copper

Kraft, Navy and Teal Anniversary Card

How are things going?

Thanksgiving has come and gone here…food was good, it was strange to only have those of us living in the house at the table. That is 2020.

I am doing well on Christmas shopping (online), but the Christmas cards and calendar have not really gotten off the ground YET.

WHATEVER. {hair flip}

I really love this Gina K. Designs snowflake stencil – it is a great background.

Supplies:  Stamp – Rubber Stampede, paper – Neenah Desert Storm, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers, VersaMark, die – Lawn Fawn, stencil – Gina K. Designs, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Sterling Silver.

Tie Dye Sunrise Birthday Card

One of my cousins requested this birthday card. The key word was “hippy-ish”. This was my first idea – ink blend a rainbow background & die cut it into sunbeams.

Supplies:  Stamp – Newton’s Nook, paper – Gmund Royal, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Desert Storm, Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Delight, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral, Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Squeezed Lemonade, Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, die – Lawn Fawn, stencil – Gina K. Designs, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Slimline Fall Birthday Card

The crafting companies have been showing lots of slimline cards the last 2 months. As if they were newly invented.  😉

As always, I struggle with birthday cards for the men in my life. This was made for one of the MANY October birthdays in my family.

Supplies:  Stamps – Papertrey Ink, Taylored Expressions, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Desert Storm, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, inks – Gina K Designs Cherry Red, VersaFine Crimson Red, dies – My Favorite Things (leaves), Papertrey Ink (birthday), Talyered Expressions (banner), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Pool and Sparkly Navy Thinking of You Note Card

My mojo is being skittish – I think it is hiding under the basement couch .

I pulled out a background stamp that has been on my mind (I think I saw something with a background done with a circle stencil last week??).

Supplies:  Stamps – Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Curious Metallics Blueprint, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, inks – Gina K. Designs Sea Glass, VersaFine Clair Twilight, dies – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), Taylored Expressions (flower), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Blended Sea Tones Birthday Card

This color scheme was inspired by a blog post by Kristina Werner. Gorgeous! (and, yes, I WANT that peony stencil!)

I made mine into a birthday card, and added a few coordinating sequins.

It makes me HAPPY!

Supplies:  Stamp – Gina K. Designs, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, Strathmore Bristol, inks – Gina K. Designs Sea Glass, Hero Arts Fiesta Teal, Lawn Fawn Deep Sea, VersaFine Clair Twilight, dies – Spellbinders, stencil – Heidi Swapp, sequins – Doodlebug Designs, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Butterfly Circle Birthday Card

This is card #2 for my mother-in-law – her birthday is next week.

I had been looking at a Reverse Confetti stamp set that has a butterfly wreath. Pretty. BUT, no disposable income to be found in my craft wallet.

Do I have a small butterfly stamp that I can use with the Gina K. Designs wreath builder?? (YES)

Supplies:  Stamps – Gina K. Designs, Papertrey Ink, paper – Curious Metallics Lime, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Grape, inks – Hero Arts Fiesta Yellow, Taylored Expressions Jelly Donut, Lime Zest, Lollipop, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Spellbinders (circles), embossing folder – Provo Craft, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Aloe Plants “Aloe!” Note Card

Took a break from the mother-in-law project today. I have 6 of 8 complete.

These Newton’s Nook aloe plants, with the “Aloe!” sentiment, gave me just the breath of fresh air I needed. I stamped and used the coordinating dies to make them more dimensional.

Supplies:  Stamps – Newton’s Nook, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Neenah Desert Storm, Stampin’ Up! Highland Heather, inks – Gina K. Designs Wild Lilac, Lawn Fawn Deep Sea, Stampin’ Up! Baja Breeze (retired – BLAST FROM THE PAST!), Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), Newton’s Nook (plants, pots), Simon Says Stamp (banner), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
