Paper and Ink Imaginings

Floral Awesome Card – Essentials by Ellen April 2017 Mix It Up Challenge

I have been avoiding challenges for a while…not exactly sure WHY. Sometimes I don’t have the inspiration, sometimes I don’t have the supplies, sometimes I have a bad attitude. I definitely need to TRY to participate in challenges more often – they do make you stretch your creativity.

The current Essentials by Ellen April 2017 Mix It Up Challenge is with Waffle Flower.

I do have several of the new Waffle Flower Enveloper series stamps, but I reached for my only other Waffle Flower stamp set – In Every Way. And Essentials by Ellen’s Bold Blooms.

I used my MISTI for every single image on this card. YES, it helped me keep my sentiment straight! I also used it for the flowers and leaves because I chose to use Distress Inks – which, in my experience are very blotchy with clear stamps. Mounting the stamps on the MISTI allowed me to stamp each flower, each leaf 3 times. And, voila! NO BLOTCHY IMAGES.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Waffle Flower, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Pop’Set Infra Violet, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Abandoned Coral, Twisted Citron, Wilted Violet, VersaFine Onyx Black, sequins – Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear 3mm, embossing powder – Ranger Silver Pearl.

Fluttery Floral Thank You Card – Essentials by Ellen January 2017 Mix It Up Challenge with Avery Elle

This month, Ellen Hutson’s Essentials by Ellen January 2017 Mix It Up Challenge is with Avery Elle.

Luckily, I have ONE Avery Elle stamp set – Many Thanks.

So…off I go to work on a card. And, looking at my bulletin board, the inspiration for the Essentials by Ellen PinSights Challenge (that closed on January 3rd) is still hanging BECAUSE it has important Offspring3 information stuck to it (Post-It notes, that I still need for this week). RED WHITE and GOLD got embedded in my brain.

Somehow, I combined the expired challenge and the new challenge. When I realized this, it was too late, I had already glued all the vellum flowers (die cut with the Bold Blooms Matching die set). I was committed! (or SHOULD BE, maybe!)

Here is the (expired) PinSight Challenge inspiration:

Supplies: Stamp – Avery Elle, paper – Curious Metallics White Gold, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! red vellum (retired), Stardreams Gold, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, die – Essentials by Ellen, 1/4″ punch – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Stampendous! Gold Detail.

Metallic and White Feminine Tag – Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2016 Challenge

This tag is for the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2016 Challenge. (that is a mouthful!) It is a BIG challenge, and I love it.

My tag was inspired by the Day 9 tags by Sharon Harnist and Jean Manis – Sharon challenged me to use frosty white with silver or gold metallics.

Me, being the overachiever that I am, used silver and gold, and a shimmery white that has a touch of gold. And pearls.

The back of the tag is gold, with silver embossing.

(Look at how much the light changed in my family room in an hour!)

The challenge runs through December 17, 2016. AND, there is going to be a random drawing from all of the qualifying entries for $150 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store. Have you posted an entry yet??

Supplies: Stamp – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Curious Ice Gold, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stardreams Gold (back of tag), Silver, ink – VersaMark, dies – Impression Obsession (snowflakes), Lawn Fawn (stitched hillside), Taylored Expressions (tag), Swarovski pearls, embossing powder – Stampendous! Gold Detail, gold cord – Stampin’ Up! (retired), organdy/satin ribbon – PaperMart.

Let the record show…

…that for the first time in my card making career, I have my own personal holiday cards totally assembled before mid December!

I used my new MISTI to help with the mass production (that and a lot of pine cone masks!).

I blogged this card back in July. I did add a banner for the sentiment on my mass produced cards, I felt the original gold on kraft sentiment did not show as well as I hoped.

And, please don’t think I am ready for the holidays because I finished my cards. I have hardly done any shopping, no decorating, I still have to make my parents’ holiday cards, create the photo calendar for next year (we give as gifts to the grandparents), sew a brand new Christmas stocking, and bake whatever variety of cookies I am inspired to bake.

Just let me bask in my accomplishment a minute longer…and then I will go work on laundry.   😉

Have a great day!

Retro Christmas Tree Card – Papertrey Ink November 2016 Blog Hop Challenge

Wow, Black Friday and the Papertrey Ink November 2016 Blog Hop Challenge, all in one day!

Do you go out and shop on Black Friday? I have never gone shopping on Black Friday. The deals are not worth the stress to me – too many crowds, too many lines, not enough parking spaces.

SO…on to the challenge! Here is the inspiration:

I was inspired by the white tree, the blue gift boxes, and the various shiny metallics.

The sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink Holiday Wishes set, bought eons ago.

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Papertrey Ink, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Silver Foil, Taylored Expressions Cookie Monster, sequins – Darice, Doodlebug Designs, Lawn Fawn, Pretty Pink Posh, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder white, Ranger Silver Pearl.

Be Merry Holiday Card

Sorry to bounce from Halloween (yesterday’s post) to Christmas, but…that’s the way the card projects go in the fall!

After playing with paint chips cut on the diagonal, I decided to take the plunge on the Taylored Expressions Diagonal Stripes Cutting Plate (my first cutting plate EVER). SO, SO WORTH THE PLUNGE! I cut one out of Pop-Tone Sour Apple, then used scraps of red and green to cut other specific stripes.

Supplies: Stamp – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Pop-Tone Sour Apple, Stampin’ Up! Garden Green, Real Red, ink – VersaMark, dies – Spellbinders (circles), Taylored Expressions (diagonal stripes cutting plate), enamel dots – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Gold Glory, gold cord – PaperMart.
