Merry Christmas Card – Papertrey Ink October 2015 Blog Hop Challenge

pti oct 2015 red green

It’s the 25th of the month, time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge!

The inspiration was lovely, it put me in mind of antique ornaments:

I silver embossed greenery from the PTI With Sympathy set, then die cut a circle out of that. Added a green layer behind the red, and embossed the sentiment (from PTI set Holiday Wishes) in gray (I tried silver, but the letters blurred together). When it was all mounted onto a white base card, I added Swarovski crystals where the greenery terminated for flowers.

I also made a green and silver version of the card:

Watercolored Fall Leaves Birthday Card

stump 2015 leaves

This is one of the cards I created for my Mom’s birthday later this week.

I die cut an assortment of leaves using watercolor paper, and painted them with my Kuretake Gansai Tambi paints before popping them out to use.

Gold Mirror Wedding Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#82

ric82 gold mirror anniversary

I loved the latest inspiration for the Runway Inspired Challenge ric#82 . Elegant.

I didn’t bust out any new ideas or techniques, just stayed elegant and classic. I embossed the gold mirror paper with an embossing folder, and was very happy that the embossing did not crack the paper or the finish.

Here is the inspiration look by Naeem Khan:

Carnation Thinking of You Card – Papertrey Ink April 2015 Blog Hop Challenge

pti april 2015 carnation thinking of you

Today is the 25th of April, which means it is time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge (April 2015)!

The inspiration photo brought back memories of high school corsages and boutonnieres made of carnations. I L.O.V.E. carnations. My allergies are tolerant of most carnations (not so much roses & orchids!).

I stamped PTI’s carnations in Blushing Bride (I must admit, my least favorite of Stampin’ Up! pink choices…but it fit for this card) on white cardstock, and then used an aqua brush and ink pad to add color to all of the petals. When dry, I fussy cut the carnations, and mounted them on a navy blue leaf frond background. Sprinkle in a few Swarovski jewels, add a sentiment, a bit of silver metallic thread, and the card pretty much made itself.

Here is the inspiration:

You Did It! Card

you did it pink poppies

So, I couldn’t possibly make a collection of encouragement cards without using my FAVORITE poppy stamp, could I??

I embossed the poppies in black, and colored them using a combination of ink pads and reinkers. And I threw in a few Swarovski crystals just because anything saying “You did it!” needs bling.

Supplies: Stamps – Papertrey Ink, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Papertrey Ink White, Stampin’ Up! Pink Pirouette, inks – Stampin’ Up! Blushing Bride, Certainly Celery (retired), Pink Pirouette, Pretty In Pink (retired), Rose Red, VersaFine Onyx Black, jewels – EK Success Swarovski Elements, die – Taylored Expressions, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Stampin’ Up! Sterling Silver.

Cream and White Wedding Card – Tag You’re It Challenge #14

tag you're it 14 cream and white wedding

The current Tag You’re It Challenge (#14) inspired my Tone on Tone Wedding Card earlier this week (but, the card did not contain a tag, so I couldn’t enter it in the challenge). Since that original card disappeared from my card basket already, I thought I would try to create another wedding card, similar to the first, with a tag in the design.

Here is the inspiration:

TYI_Challenge 14graphic

I combined cream and white, and used platinum embossing powder. And that platinum layer between the cream & white? I embossed just the edges of a piece of lightweight cardstock with the same platinum embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies: Stamp – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Georgia Pacific white, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, White, ink – VersaFine Smoky Gray, VersaMark, dies – Lawn Fawn (tag), Spellbinders (label), embossing folders – Darice (background), Provo Craft (bride & groom), jewels – EK Success Swarovski Elements, embossing powder – Ranger Liquid Platinum, organdy ribbon – JoAnn’s, silver thread – Coats Metallic.

Thanks Card – Runway Inspired Challenge ric#74

ric74 thanks

The current Runway Inspired Challenge – ric#74, is based on this inspiration look from the Escada Spring 2015 collection:

ric74 Escada

I was inspired by the variegated color, and by the different angles of the print on the bottom of the dress.

To make the variegated color on my card, I masked off the bottom of the card, then used my Ink Blending Tool to apply Distress Inks through a stencil. First, with Squeezed Lemonade, then twice with Spiced Marmalade. Between ink applications, I rotated the stencil. When I was done with the stencil, I applied a very light coat of Spiced Marmalade over most of the stenciled area. I added thin strips of Pumpkin Pie cardstock as a border along the bottom of my pattern, inspired by the skinny belt. The jewel is a nod to a fancy purse clasp.

Here is the Heidi Swapp stencil I used:

I really love the Runway Inspired Challenges – they make me think.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a Happy New Year’s Eve!

Supplies: Paper – Papertrey Ink White, Stampin’ Up! Pumpkin Pie, Sahara Sand, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, die – Taylored Expressions. stencil – Heidi Swapp, jewel – EK Success Swarovski Elements.
