Paper and Ink Imaginings

just playing with paper and ink

Stenciled Shells Miss You Card

I saw this stencil on Kristina Werner’s blog a few weeks ago (right around the time I needed retail therapy to deal with my dentist billing dispute!)

I blended three Distress Ink colors (Antique Linen, Shaded Lilac, Spun Sugar) over the stencil and let them dry. After I was sure the piece was dry, I carefully placed the stencil over the images exactly, and spread translucent embossing paste over the stencil. Now all of the shells are shaded, raised and shiny.

(SO HAPPY with how the background turned out!)

We spent last week at the beach. I already miss the sand, surf & shells! Everything is unpacked & put away, and I am all caught up on the laundry.

Back to reality – Mom fell again while I was gone and fractured her arm. Does anyone know where I can find a bubble wrap suit??

Hola Spanish Tiles Note Card

This Hola sentiment stamp is in the Technique Tuesday set with Lorenzo the Llama.

I thought this paper by ScrapBerry looked like Spanish tile.

Offspring3 snagged it as soon as I had it photographed.

Tic Tac Toe Red and Purple Valentine

For this background, I repeatedly embossed the multiple heart die from last year’s Simon Says Stamp February 2016 Kit onto red cardstock using an embossing pad (silicone).  It took quite a few passes through the Big Shot (15?) to fill the red cardstock (layer for an A6 card – 4 1/8 x 5 3/4 inches) with embossed hearts, but I am pleased with the way it turned out. The layer behind the red layer is Curious Metallic Virtual Pearl (from a sample pack I bought), and at some angles, it has a violet tinge to it. (Of course, I was never successful trying to photograph said tinge!)

Here is the multiple heart die:

Supplies: Stamps – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Curious Metallic Virtual Pearl, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Lovely Lilac (retired), Real Red, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, Satin Red, dies – Simon Says Stamp (hearts), Spellbinders (square), embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Silver Pearl.

Metallic and White Feminine Tag – Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2016 Challenge

This tag is for the Ellen Hutson 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2016 Challenge. (that is a mouthful!) It is a BIG challenge, and I love it.

My tag was inspired by the Day 9 tags by Sharon Harnist and Jean Manis – Sharon challenged me to use frosty white with silver or gold metallics.

Me, being the overachiever that I am, used silver and gold, and a shimmery white that has a touch of gold. And pearls.

The back of the tag is gold, with silver embossing.

(Look at how much the light changed in my family room in an hour!)

The challenge runs through December 17, 2016. AND, there is going to be a random drawing from all of the qualifying entries for $150 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store. Have you posted an entry yet??

Supplies: Stamp – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Curious Ice Gold, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stardreams Gold (back of tag), Silver, ink – VersaMark, dies – Impression Obsession (snowflakes), Lawn Fawn (stitched hillside), Taylored Expressions (tag), Swarovski pearls, embossing powder – Stampendous! Gold Detail, gold cord – Stampin’ Up! (retired), organdy/satin ribbon – PaperMart.

Shimmering Navy Butterfly Card

navy butterfly purple watercolor thinking of you

I painted this purple circle sometime last week, and then couldn’t decide how to use it on a card.

My butterfly dies were calling to me this morning, so here we are. I splattered some diluted Wink of Stella onto the watercolor paper before mounting the butterfly and sentiment.

Supplies: Stamp – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Canson watercolor, Curious Metallic Ink, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, ink – VersaFine Smokey Gray, ZIG Wink of Stella clear, dies – Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangle), Impression Obsession (butterfly), Spellbinders (rectangle), watercolor – Sakura Koi, embossing powder – Ranger Silver Pearl.

Love Heart Note Card

shimmering frame heart photo note

This came together really quickly. I stamped a love heart onto white cardstock in red ink, and embossed it. Die cut two photo frames (the stamped white cardstock, some shimmering violet), and swapped pieces to put it together.

Supplies: Stamp – Stampin’ Up! (retired), paper – Curious Metallic Violette, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Real Red, ink – VersaFine Satin Red, die – Taylored Expressions, wood hearts – Studio Calico, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
