Float On Encouragement Card

I have to admit, I have not been spending too much time at my craft table for the last month (read: bare minimum!). I’ve had my nose stuck to my Kindle, I am on my 11th book in 4 weeks. It has been great to get totally wrapped up in the stories. I am currently (as I type, probably done when this posts!) reading Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

So, on Wednesday afternoon, I was kvetching about having nothing to post for Thursday or Friday. And time was ticking away. I stumbled on the National Wear Lilly Day for Thursday’s blog post. One down, one to go.

I pulled out my previously made backgrounds folder, and found this watercolored blue one. And…maybe it looks like sea and sky.

I stamped, embossed, colored (including blue around the sailboat before I die cut, so the edge would blend into the background) and die cut the sailboat from the Essentials by Ellen Stay Salty set. And the sentiment is from the set as well.

TGIF!

Happy Father’s Day 2017

This is one of the cards I made for my Dad. I was so excited when this idea popped into my head, and that I was able to execute the design.

My Dad is not really represented by the images available from the stamp industry. He is not into nautical, the great outdoors, cars, jets or trains. He LOVES sports (baseball being #1), he loves jokes, he loves chocolate, AND he loves his family. He still plays softball and basketball at 83.

I thought about what he would be doing on Father’s Day…watching baseball.

I found a Baltimore Oriole logo online (hey, for personal use here, to make an old guy smile), and printed it on white cardstock. I then stamped the TV over the logo, and on a separate piece of woodgrain paper. I cut the woodgrain image to use the cabinet part of the TV for paper piecing. The white cardstock with the TV got die cut with a large tag die, and I colored the wall a light blue/green, and added a piece of background paper for the flooring. And I just kept adding layers of Baltimore Oriole team colors.

I searched Google Images for “Baltimore Orioles logo”, and found one that had the resolution I needed to be able to print it. The image was from the Official Site of the Baltimore Orioles.

Seagull Father’s Day Card

I was trying to think of a theme for a Father’s Day card for hubby…and my eyes fell on the seagull in the Stay Salty set from Ellen Hutson. Not your typical inspiration, right??

I blended the ink background, and stamped/embossed the clouds and wave crests. Think think….how do I want my seagull to be here? What about a piling, near a dock or jetty? Oohhhhh…I have that sampler pack of wood paper.

I stamped wood grain stamps onto the wood paper – just for more detail, and cut the tops by hand. The linen thread was added as rope.

Doing the happy dance about the finished card!

Something Amazing Mermaid Note Card

I had the Essentials by Ellen Stay Salty set out to work on a different card, and the cute little mermaid tail just had to get inked.

I stamped all the images onto an ombre sheet from Amy Tangerine. And then popped a die cut tail (stamped, embossed & colored) over the stamped tail (the stamp has the splash drops, the die does not).

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, paper – American Craft Amy Tangerine On A Whim, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay, inks – Copic BG15, Hero Arts Unicorn, Ranger Perfect Medium, VersaFine Deep Lagoon, Smokey Gray, die – Essentials by Ellen, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Arts Powder clear, white, Ranger Silver Pearl.

Dino-Mite Birthday Card – MFTWSC333

I have not participated in many My Favorite Things challenges. This week, the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge (MFTWSC333) caught my eye.

Here is the sketch:

I decided to try making a single layer scene, using the stripes to be different scenes. When it was time to color the sky, I decided to do an ombre effect (dark on top, light on bottom). To clean up the edges of my coloring and to highlight the stripes, I added two different widths of X-Press It High Tack Double Sided Tape. I covered the tape with metallic embossing powder and zapped it with my heat gun.

To fit the images into the stripes, the card is an A6 size – 4.625 x 6.25 inches.

Supplies: Stamps – My Favorite Things, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Pacific Point, inks – Copic B00, B02, B0000, E15, E23, G46, YG03, YG06, YG17, YR04, YR09, YR68, Y06, VersaFine Onyx Black, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Liquid Platinum.

Seagull Note Card

Offspring3 got looking at stamps to give me as a Mother’s Day gift, and couldn’t get past this funny seagull. So, I am the VERY GRATEFUL recipient of the Essentials by Ellen Stay Salty set and matching dies.

We enjoy watching the seagulls at the beach on vacation…for the most part. Sometimes the seagulls make it difficult to like them! One summer, a seagull tried to abscond with 1/2 of Offspring3’s peanut butter sandwich (in a closed Ziploc bag)! Silly bird, we were right there on the blanket! We got the bag back.
