Paper and Ink Imaginings

Skip Note Card

skip be happy blended bristol

I’ve been blending inks this week (you will see in future posts).

For this piece, I blended Picked Raspberry and Blueprint Sketch on some Bristol.  And the sentiment is from a set of quirky sentiments by Ranger (I could not pass them up at my local Michael’s…and I even FORGOT my coupon).

Supplies: Stamp – Ranger, paper – Bristol, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Blueprint Sketch, Picked Raspberry, VersaFine Onyx Black, die – My Favorite Things, sequins – Doodlebug Designs, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, thread – Coats Metallic.

“A Little Birdie Told Me” Paint Chip Card

tyic28 little birdie

Here is my take on the most recent Tag You’re It Challenge (#28) .

I used my new Essentials by Ellen Wish Big stamp set, and the sentiment “A little birdie told me” leaves it open for interpretation – birthday card? congratulations card? I can decide later.

I die cut two different paint chips with the tag die, and layered them to be sky/grass. I used one thread for all of the balloons, rather than having individual strings for the bird to hold.

Here is the inspiration:

Floral Birthday Tag Card – Tag You’re It Challenge #25

tyic25 birthday

The latest Tag You’re It Challenge (#25) caught my eye.

Here is the inspiration tag:

I kept some of the elements (flower, edge stripes, greeting banner, ink blending), and added new elements (dry embossing, watercoloring). And mounted it onto a top fold card.

The white tag front and the green layer are both embossed with the same embossing folder. I watercolored along the embossing on the white tag with green ink to make it my flower stem.

Another Paper Pumpkin May 2015 Birthday Card

paper pumpkin may 2015 celebrate card

I made another original birthday card using the supplies in the Paper Pumpkin May 2015 kit. I stamped the balloon on different colors and embossed with clear embossing powder, then fussy cut them. The strings are Coats Metallic Silver thread. The striped layer is cut from the cards included in the kit (as is the Bermuda Bay balloon). The Bermuda Bay strip was embossed in the Tim Holtz bingo card embossing folder.

Here is a close up of the embossed balloons – I think maybe next time I do this, I will do two layers of embossing powder.

And Stampin’ Up!, if you are reading? I would have LOVED to have gotten 2 different sized balloon dies (one to match the balloon stamp, one to cut the balloons that we got as punch outs for the gift bag) with this kit. OR at least the option to purchase the 2 dies that match this kit.

For You Square Card

bold blooms on paint chip

I splurged and bought the Bold Blooms collection (2 sets of dies, 1 set of stamps) designed by Julie Ebersole for Ellen Hutson’s Essentials by Ellen product line.

You know Julie Ebersole is my crafting crush, right? I know I have mentioned it before.

I die cut the open flowers, mounted them on a paint chip (Lowe’s).

This card is 4 1/4 square – I wanted to match the shape of the paint chip. It still fits into an A2 envelope, I just glue in a strip of paper to keep it from shifting.

Supplies: Stamp – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Lowe’s paint chip, Papertrey Ink Kraft, White, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Essentials by Ellen (flowers), Taylored Expressions (banner), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, thread – Coats Metallic iridescent white.
