Tulips Thinking of You Card

Since spring is blooming here, I pulled out my tulips stamp. I am waiting rather impatiently for my tulips to bloom – maybe it will be TODAY.

When I stamped the tulips, the ink would not dry…I ultimately had to pull out my heat gun to dry it. I didn’t realize until I was photographing that the paper I thought was Neenah white card stock was Bristol card stock – OOPS. Not what I intended.  (And it bothers me that the whites don’t match – but that is a personal problem!  🙂  )

Mondo Daisy Hello Card

Ellen Hutson just released this Mondo Daisy set (designed by Julie Ebersole).

OF COURSE I needed a daisy set!

For this first play session, I stamped the daisy with Gina K. Designs Amalgam ink (which works with all coloring mediums without running or bleeding) onto Strathmore Bristol paper. And I did not use embossing powder (which I usually do when I am coloring any image). I used ZIG Clean Color Real Brush pens and a water marker to color the daisy. It was too muted for me after my first try, so I added multiple layers of color with just the Real Brush pens. Now I have the bright Gerbera daisy I was aiming for.

The sentiment was a tiny bit of a mistake – I stamped twice for coverage, but my paper shifted a smidgen and the image was offset just a tidge, so it is a little bolder than intended.

You Are My Anchor Card

Recently, Simon Says Stamp was giving away the Gina K. Designs mini wreath builder template and stamp set with ANY order. So, I went scouring for a mini stamp set and die (less than $10 total). I wound up with this Waffle Flower set (I already own multiple anchor stamps/dies, but no sentiments that coordinate with an anchor). Great! AND I dug up a $5 coupon, which helped with shipping.

I blended distress inks over a stencil onto Strathmore Bristol paper – so smooth for blending.

Supplies: Stamps – Waffle Flower, paper – Curious Metallics Shadow, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay, Strathmore Bristol, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – My Favorite Things (pierced rectangle), Waffle Flower (anchor), stencil – Simon Says Stamp, embossing powder – Stampendous Detail clear, floss – DMC.

Night Sky Woodland Animals Birthday Card

Offspring2 celebrated a birthday recently. He is the photographer, two of his favorite subjects are night skies and critters.

I blended the sky onto Strathmore Bristol paper (blends so easily on this smooth surface!), and when it was dry, I flicked Kuretake white pearl paint onto it. I did struggle with how to ground the scene – I finally decided on a strip of green paper covered with die cut leaves.

Supplies: Stamps – Lawn Fawn, Reverse Confetti, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Always Artichoke (retired), Bravo Burgundy (retired), Brushed Silver, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, More Mustard (retired), Pumpkin Pie, Shimmery White (retired), Strathmore Bristol, inks – Copic E15, E19, E21, E33, 100, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, Salty Ocean, VersaFine Onyx Black, Vintage Sepia, dies – Lawn Fawn (animals), My Favorite Things (leaves, pierced rectangle), Spellbinders (circle), watercolor – Kuretake Gansai Tambi, embossing powder – Spellbinders Detail clear.

You Are Mermazing Card

I used this cutie on a birthday card I needed to send, and made a second card with a fun sentiment.

I stamped the rock first, then masked it off to blend the sky and water. The mermaid was colored with Copics and die cut, but then I fussy cut it with detail scissors right against the embossing. I colored the raw edge with a black marker. I used an embossing folder on the water part of the card.
