Stegosaurus Family Baby Card

stegosaurus-couple-baby-card

So, I finally figured out how to execute the baby card I had in my head. This is something one of my cousins requested, it is an A6 card (a little bigger than my usual card).

I stamped the mirror image stegosaurus (the one on the right) first – because I kept screwing it up. Took about 6 tries to get it right (with a MISTI and a Paper Smooches Mirror block), and Jennifer’s McGuire’s very helpful Mirror Stamping video streaming while I was working. After that was done, I stamped the other stegosaurus and the baby, and masked them all. Next came the nest, rocks and trees, and they got masked as well. I blended ink for the grass and sky. After removing all my masks, I said a silent prayer that I WOULD NOT SCREW UP while coloring with my Copic markers!

Supplies: Stamps – A Muse Artstamps, Lawn Fawn, Paper Smooches, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Tangerine Tango, inks – Copic E23, E53, N1, N4, W1, W3, W7, YG23, YG25, YG95, YR0000, YR04, YR09, Y0000, Y18, Y26, Y28, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Mowed Lawn, Tumbled Glass, Stampin’ Up! Sahara Sand, VersaFine Onyx Black, Smoky Gray, Vintage Sepia, die – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

Ombre Botanical Smile Card

ombre-botanical-alphabet-background

I recently bought the Tiny Alphabet Background stamp from Simon Says Stamp. For today’s card, I inked it up with Distress Inks in ombre fashion (light at the top, dark at the bottom). Since I wanted to emboss the leaves over the background, I let it dry for 24 hours to prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to the distress ink. I embossed the leaves with clear embossing powder, and then added the same inks from the alphabet background with a blending tool. The embossing powder resists ink , so the leaves stay clear and the background peeks through. I was surprised at how much the lightest alphabet (Tumbled Glass) at the top faded away when I blended ink over the project.

The “smile” die caught my eye while I was working on something else, so that is what I used to cut the wood paper. There are 2 layers of Neenah underneath the wood layer, just to pop it up a bit. And you can see that some of the white underlayer is peeking out – not intentional, but I am not fretting about it.

Supplies: Stamps – A Muse Artstamps, Simon Says Stamp, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Paper-Paper Cherry Wood Paper, inks – Ranger Perfect Medium, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass, die – Taylored Expressions, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Crystal Clear.
