Paper and Ink Imaginings

just playing with paper and ink

World Card Making Day 2019!

I didn’t know if I would have time to participate in World Card Making Day – but I did!  (it’s noon & I am still in my pajamas…priorities, right?)

I admit I watercolored the carnations last night (so it would dry). The background, sentiment, assembly were all done today.

This card is leaving with a batch of brownies in the morning.

Have a great day! Let’s all go get inspired!

Stormy Skies Thinking of You Card

My colors were inspired by last week’s Color Throwdown Challenge #562.

I didn’t realize until I was finished blending the inks that I had played along with the challenge (I had the above graphic printed & sitting on my craft table), and by then I had missed the deadline.

Foliage Thinking of You Card

Hey, there!

I made a card!  (I decided I owed it to myself to get inky!)

Of course, now I don’t want to shift gears and do the medical paperwork I need to do.

I was inspired by various crafting blogs displaying a Simon Says Stamp and Reverse Confetti joint collaboration stamp set (part of Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember…which, as of 8:39 pm on September 9th, is sold out. Wasn’t in my budget anyway!).

Supplies:  Stamps – Hero Arts, Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Desert Storm, Stampin’ Up! Old Olive, inks – Gina K. Designs Jelly Bean Green, Stampin’ Up! Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, VersaMark, die – Spellbinders, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Classy Copper, linen thread – Stampin’ Up!.

Sending Prayers Faux Stained Glass Window Card

I am STILL playing with the new blending brushes!

From the top, I blended Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet, and Chipped Sapphire.

After I let it dry, it looked a little MEH.

I taped a stencil over it, sprayed it with a fine mist of water and soaked up the water with a paper towel. The ink didn’t seem to be lifting, so I repeated that sequence 2 more times.

When it dried, I thought it looked like a stained glass window, so a sentiment with “prayers” was a perfect fit. I embossed it directly onto the “window”.

But then, I decided to run the piece through my Big Shot with a cardboard shim to flatten it (all of that misting made the card stock curl). NOPE. SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT BEFORE THE SENTIMENT EMBOSSING!

Redid the sentiment on black and covered the now peeling original sentiment. Crisis averted.

Supplies:  Stamp – My Favorite Things, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass, Wilted Violet, VersaMark, stencil – Neat & Tangled, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Sterling Silver.

Blended Floral You’re On My Mind Card

I know I posted this sentiment not too long ago, but I needed a thinking of you card.

Late in July I purchased a small set of blending brushes from The Stamp Market (The set of 3 was on sale for $11.99 – I had never tried brushes before.), this was my first time inking one of them. The brush did seem to apply ink easier than the Tim Holtz mini blending tool (I don’t have a dedicated sponge for each color, so that may be a factor). Not sure if my wrist liked the motion of the brush, though.

Supplies:  Stamp – Stampin’ Up!, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, VersaMark, die – Lawn Fawn, stencil – Dylusions, sequins – Doodlebug Designs, embossing powder – Ranger Super Fine Detail white, organdy ribbon – Offray.
