Painted Enveloper Series Mother’s Day Card

For this card, I stamped in black and embossed. Then, I carefully watercolored the flowers and butterflies. When that was dry, I lightly watercolored the sky. I was really happy with it, until I thought, “Oh, let me wipe of the embossed areas, just in case there is some color still sitting on top of the embossing – I don’t want the recipient to get painted fingers.” Now there are several smudges. My final touch was splatterings of clear Wink Of Stella.

So, helpful readers, how should I remove the residual paint color that sits on top of embossed areas? I know I rubbed – I should not have done that. Would just blotting work?

Supplies: Stamps – Hero Arts, Waffle Flower, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Poptone Sour Apple, Strathmore Bristol, inks – VersaFine Onyx Black, Smokey Gray, ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens Carmine Red (022), Cobalt Blue (031), Light Green (041), Orange (070), Yellow (050), ZIG Wink of Stella, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Silver Pearl.

Floral Mother’s Day Card with Embossing Paste

Last week, Ellen Hutson’s blog, The Classroom, was featuring Tonic Nuvo Embellishment Mousses. I have none of these mousses. They do look lovely, fun to play with. I really don’t know how often I would use them, and knowing that, how in goodness sakes would I choose which ONE of the 24 colors to buy??? Pink Flambe because hot pink is my favorite color? Or Aquamarine or Powder Blue for the sky/ocean possibilities? In reality, if I do eventually splurge (it is not in the budget for the foreseeable future!) on ONE, I would probably get Pure Platinum, because who can’t use a neutral metallic.

I have a two embossing pastes (clear, white) by Dreamweaver, and these can be colored by adding ink before spreading, and I can potentially sprinkle glitter on top after spreading (before it dries).

Today, I just spread the clear over a floral stencil. This is a card for my Mom.

Supplies: Stamp – Clearly Besotted, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Calypso Coral, Real Red, ink – VersaFine Satin Red, stencil – Heidi Swapp, embossing paste – Dreamweaver/Studio 490/Wendy Vecchi translucent, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, twine – MarkerPop.

Happy Mother’s Day

mothers day 2016 group(click on photo to enlarge)

These are the cards I made for my close friends who are mothers. The “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment is on the inside of the card – I did not wish to cover up any of the watercoloring!

The image was embossed in gold, then I used my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens (I have the set of 12) to watercolor the image. I like to dip the pen in water to lighten the color. The tinge of blue background was done with an aqua brush.

Supplies: Stamp – Penny Black, paper – Canson watercolor, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, ink – VersaFine Vintage Sepia, Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens Blue (030), Brown (060), Carmine Red (022), Cobalt Blue (031), Light Gray (091), Light Green (041), Light Violet (081), Orange (070), Pink (025), Yellow (050)embossing powder – Stampendous! Gold Detail.

Here is one of the cards I made to send to my Mom this year. I looked through the file of Mother’s Day cards, and realized I never used my Hero Arts Newspaper Tulips on a card for her. Perfect!

I colored the stamp with Stampin’ Up! markers.
