A New Friend!

Early in July, Offspring3 was pet sitting for a neighbor. The family asked me to pick up their Community Farm Share for that week (Offspring3 not licensed yet). We stopped on the way to Offspring3’s job on a Thursday afternoon, and met the nicest couple working the pickup booth. They had pretzel bread from a local bakery, and I commented that it looked sad (it was in plastic, so the condensation melted the salt). I told them I had a great recipe, and the woman asked me to share.

So, the next Thursday rolled around, and I made Brezen Semmel, printed the recipe, and we stopped by the pickup booth again with rolls and the printed recipe. I think the couple was a little surprised that I actually remembered my promise and followed through.

This past week, the lovely woman and I got together (not at the pickup booth!), and she surprised me with BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS sunflower cupcakes! Holy Guacamole!

I cannot tell a lie…they are all gone, and I won the consumption race.  😉

Turns out, my new friend makes cakes as a hobby. Check out her work!

Thanks so much, Kristen!

House Painting and Inspiration

finished closet

I finished painting the master bedroom closet yesterday, and I got the Closet Maid shelving back in last night. I plan to refill it today.

It has already been a busy morning here! I dropped Offspring3 off at a different high school to take the SAT. Filed corrections on the FAFSA forms for Offspring1 and Offspring2 (FAFSA is due by February 15, but I don’t normally get my taxes done that quickly, so I file corrections when I finish my taxes.)

I am hoping to find time for a card or two later today (have not made a card since Tuesday!)…my inspiration is the collection of paint chips Offspring3 collected while I was selecting paint at Lowe’s, and the cover of the latest issue of Better Homes & Gardens.

Happy Saturday!

Paint Chip Inspiration

This past Thursday, I volunteered in Offspring3’s high school guidance office all day (students coming through to visit counselors for next year’s course selection). I brought Offspring3 home, gulped a Diet Coke, and headed off to Lowe’s to buy 2 new snow shovels. We always have 2 snow shovels, but never buy them the same year…one will wear out, it will get replaced. This is the first time ever both shovels have crashed & burned at the same time. At this point, they are predicting snow for Monday. I need new shovels!

Snow shovels are currently stacked by the entrance of Lowe’s; I found the exact kind I wanted (Although, I would love to talk to a snow shovel manufacturer about tweaking the design just a tiny bit – for my small hands! And, maybe can we talk about some sort of mini heater in the handle, perhaps powered by a watch/button battery? Or a way to insert a skiing handwarmer into the tube/shaft? I lose the feeling in my fingertips.). Headed to the self checkout…and what did I pass???

The paint chip display. Oh, my!

I am tired of cold, tired of my dirty minivan (covered in weather related road chemicals…but too cold to wash it!), tired of gray. So, I picked only bright colors.

What colors do you gravitate towards in the paint chip aisle?

Thanks for stopping by!
