“Feline Better” Card

masked-stenciled-feline-fine

I love the punny sentiment, “Hope you are feline better” that came in the Simon Says Stamp Playful Kittens stamp set.

I cut a circle mask, blended ink through a stencil over the mask, then removed the stencil and blended a little more ink. The cat was stamped, embossed, colored and then die cut from a separate piece of Neenah Solar White card stock.

Supplies: Stamps – Simon Says Stamp, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, inks – Copics C1, R0000, R81, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Tumbled Glass, VersaFine Smokey Gray, dies – Simon Says Stamp (cat), Spellbinders (circles), stencil – Heidi Swapp, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

World Card Making Day 2016

fox-under-the-weather

Today is World Card Making Day!

I went looking early (6:00 am, EST) for challenges, and nothing had been posted yet. Then, I got working on my own things. I need to go back and look at company blogs for challenges.

It is rainy and gray here this morning, so I went with that theme. I blended a circle of blue onto gray cardstock, then used a stencil to add falling hearts (rain) with translucent embossing paste. Once that was dry, I mounted the log, the fox, and the sentiment.

Here is a close up of the stenciled hearts:

A Little Birdie Told Me Card – Essentials by Ellen September 2015 Mix It Up Challenge

e by e sept 2015 mix it up a little birdie

This month’s Essentials by Ellen Mix It Up Challenge is with Impression Obsession.

I decided to use the bird from the Essentials by Ellen Wish Big set, and an Impression Obsession umbrella die.

I wanted the background to be a bit abstract, so I didn’t blend the Distress Inks perfectly, and I flicked on some water droplets and sprayed a little more water onto it. The bird was colored with ZIG Clean Color brush  markers, and I added a little bit of water and dabbed some color away from the bird’s breast and face. Finally, I trimmed a bit of the curve off the umbrella handle, and added a coat of Glossy Accents to the canopy.

My plan is to use this for a get well card – kind of an “under the weather” thing. I was thinking about adding some Swarovski crystals as rain drops, but that would preclude me from using this for a male. I can add them later if I need the card for a female.

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Real Red, inks – Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Inks Hickory Smoke, Mowed Lawn, Tumbled Glass, VersaFine Onyx Black, ZIG Clean Color 060 Brown, 070 Orange, die – Impression Obsession, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
