Paper and Ink Imaginings

just playing with paper and ink

New Home Card, Townhouse Version

While I had my Hero Arts house on my workspace, I made a “townhouse” version of a new home card.

Recently, Offspring3 and I went to the Kennedy Center to see the musical, “Chicago”. (thank you MUCHO, Offspring3!) We took the Metro (I don’t like driving in DC). The walk from the Foggy Bottom Metro station to the Kennedy Center was lovely. This row of houses was my inspiration for the card. Sorry about the wonky angle of the photo, I didn’t stop and square myself up directly across the street.

Way To Go Encouragement Card

“Tent Topper” cards were very popular…when? I can’t remember! Maybe 8 years ago? (I will have to go troll the Splitcoaststampers gallery to see if I can figure it out!)

I felt inspired to make one when the last scrap of pencil paper was only 3.75 inches square. My offspring would have LOVED this back in elementary school days.

Supplies: Stamp – Stampin’ Up!, paper – pencils – source unknown, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray, Ruby Red (retired BLAST FROM THE PAST!), ink – VersaMark, dies – Spellbinders, embossing powder – Stampin’ Up! Sterling Silver.

Blended Ink Background Encouragement Card

alcohol background butterfly

I was rummaging through my stash of scraps, and found this background that I made…maybe a dozen year ago? There is a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers called Polished Stone by Beate Johns. I am pretty sure I modified the technique by using BD Alcohol Swabs and an original rectangular Tim Holtz Blending Tool. (These were suggestions by other card makers in the Splitcoaststampers forums.). And with this one, I did not add the metallic ink or use the sealer mentioned in the tutorial.

ANYWAY, the colors caught my eye while I was rummaging, and this card happened. And, no, I didn’t mis-stamp my sentiment, Reverse Confetti seems to like fonts with funky “s” execution.

Thanks for stopping by!

Here is my creation for the Essentials by Ellen May 2016 Pin-Sights Challenge.

And here is the inspiration board:

Gosh, I have been staring at this inspiration board for over a week, just overwhelmed by the pastel-ishness. The past few days, I was more focused on the lower right photo – the flowers that look similar to drink umbrellas. Which then translated into cupcake papers in my head.

These are mini cupcake papers from Target (purchased last summer).

I added some gold splatters with a mix of Pearl-Ex, Gum Arabic, and water (tapped off the end of a small round paintbrush).
