Yesterday, the Papertrey Ink stamp set “Year of Flowers: Carnation” was out on my workspace. And this sentiment was calling to me…”Ink me! I’ve never been inked!”
I created a collage of Essentials by Ellen die cut roses for a backdrop. (I made a similar background for a Runway Inspired Challenge – Wedding Wishes Card.)
Supplies: Stamp – Papertrey Ink, paper – ESSE Pearlized Latte, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Brushed Gold, Night of Navy, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Essentials by Ellen, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.
My only Pretty Pink Posh purchases have been sequins, so I made a shaker card.
I embossed the large Bold Bloom onto Neenah Solar White (so I would know where to color), and then I partially die cut the bloom (Not sure why I chose to do it this way? I could have just as easily inlaid a Bold Bloom into the white paper.) I colored the cut bloom with Copics, then used a mask to protect it from stamping the smaller blooms and leaves. I mounted fun foam on the back of the white paper to create the space for the sequins, beads and glitter.

I am sending this to my in-laws as an anniversary card – it needs to mail well, so I didn’t add more sequins to the card surface.
Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Office Depot transparency, Recollections Mirror Gold, Stampin’ Up! Night of Navy, inks – Copic R02, R24, R29, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Mowed Lawn, Wild Honey, VersaFine Smokey Gray, die – Essentials by Ellen, sequins – Pretty Pink Posh (Marshmallow 4mm, Metallic Gold 4mm), glitter/beads – Suze Weinberg’s Beadazzles (Jazz), embossing powder – Stampendous! Gold Detail Embossing Powder.
I used two stencils to create this ink blended background. I like the falling hearts over the lattice. Put it in the mailbox as soon as I edited the photo.
I didn’t bust out any new ideas or techniques, just stayed elegant and classic. I embossed the gold mirror paper with an embossing folder, and was very happy that the embossing did not crack the paper or the finish.
Here is the card I made for my parents’ anniversary. I am sitting here trying to remember when I became “aware” of their anniversary. They went out to celebrate every year, so I was aware of it on that level as far back as I can remember. They celebrated their 20th anniversary when I was in high school – I probably thought “that is a LONG time!” at that point! I think they went on cruises to celebrate 30th and 40th. They renewed their vows for their 55th. I guess I should start a conversation with my sibling about planning something special for next year, shouldn’t I?? 😉
Did you know that the 60th anniversary is the Diamond Anniversary? I had to look that up, so I knew which way to go with this card. I have never made (bought or sent) a 60th anniversary card before.
This is for the in-laws…she is the fan of yellow, he is the fan of blue. Silver glitter paper is being the “diamond”.
There is a vellum tag offset behind the navy one.
Supplies: Stamp – Stampin’ Up!, paper – My Mind’s Eye Indie Chic Nutmeg, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream, Recollections Silver Glitter paper, Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, Night of Navy, Staples vellum, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, dies – Lawn Fawn (tag, tag protector), Papertrey Ink (numbers), Taylored Expressions (banner), embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, organdy ribbon – ClearBags.
My parents are celebrating their 58th anniversary this coming weekend. WOW. I decided to make this card a University of Maryland Terrapin theme. Why, you ask? Well, neither of them attended Maryland, neither did I, neither did my sibling. My Dad has been a Maryland fan since the 1970’s (I don’t remember him following college sports prior to that, perhaps they were more commonly televised beginning in the 1970’s?). When the Colts left Baltimore in 1984, my parents got University of Maryland football season tickets to replace their Colts season tickets. Thirty years have gone by, and after this past fall season, they decided to not renew their Terps season tickets.
I think it is to protest the University of Maryland moving from the ACC to the Big Ten. 😉 Not really…although, the conference change presents the perfect break away point. A changing of the guard.
Thanks for stopping by!

This card is for my in-laws. I struggle with anniversary cards – trying to find a balance between designing for the two different celebrants. The blue is a nod to my father-in-law, the yellow a nod to my mother-in-law.
Whirlwind week here…Offspring1 and Offspring2 home for spring break, Offspring3 has a BUSY week. And one of the offspring is celebrating a birthday…YUM! Chocolate cake!
