So…confession…I haven’t stamped or made a card in a week. I’ve been busy with other things (gallery reopening, lots of cooking & baking, a family birthday, Offspring3’s foot), and every time I sat down to stamp, I could only stare at my supplies. I dealt with that by sitting on the couch watching “Grey’s Anatomy” on the Lifetime channel. Gotta love when George hand writes “007” in Meredith’s hand. Or when Meredith & Derek write wedding vows on a post it note & hang it in her locker.
Today, I pulled out the new pineapple set, for this cutie 3 layer flower. I should be able to do this, right??
Did I ever mention that when I make a mistake, I rip the offending paper in half?? Is that a character flaw? Should I put a disclaimer in the sidebar?
These are not in chronological order: 1) ink on the corner of my acrylic block landed on the envelope flap, 2) this was first…I started out making a pink card, but could NOT line up the silly layers correctly, then I didn’t like the lack of contrast between the two pinks & tried yellow/orange. MEH. Enter the Pool Party & Bermuda Bay idea., 3) WHY is there a line in the middle of my image, and WHY doesn’t the stamp stamp completely every time??? 4) see note 3, and 5) again, the NOT STAMPED COMPLETELY.
Looked at my Pool Party ink pad – WHY IS THERE A LINE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY INK PAD??? I don’t even own a reinker for this, so you cannot blame it on me!
I do think the final version is pretty.
Still not totally sold on layering stamps.
In the middle of writing this blog post, I went outside to get the mail, and observed the gents working on the neighbor’s new roof. The guy in the orange shirt was just talking on his cell phone. ON THE ROOF. (sorry I missed it, the camera was inside).
Supplies: Stamps – Hero Arts, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay, inks – Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip, Pool Party, VersaFine Smoky Gray, embossing folder – Stampin’ Up!, embossing powder – Ranger Liquid Platinum, twine – Stampin’ Up!

Perseverance pays off. Really cute finished product. I guess if you’re a roofer you can do anything on the roof.

Thanks, Terry! I agree, roofers can do anything on the roof. It was just something the Mom in me want to scream at him!

Well the end result made it worthwhile, I think! Aqua shades are so restful, although maybe you don’t feel that way right now! What was the chap thinking? If it is not OK to drive and use your mobile then it is definitely not OK to be using it atop a roof either!

Thank you for the kind words about the card, Gillian! And I do understand that roofers possess superpowers that I do not…but it was an “AHHHHH! STOP!” moment in my head!

I’d have probably accidentally shouted it aloud and startled him, which would not have been good!

I made a comment to Offspring3 and ran for my camera!

I love the result, your card is beautiful! Were you experimenting with MISTI or with acrylic block?

Thank you, Regina! I did this with an acrylic block.

It’s really hard to align everything without any special tools… And about not stamping completely… I used a foam pad in some cases and it gives better results, as you can press into it a bit to get ‘full coverage’. You can try using mouse pad or something like this.

The alignment is frustrating to me. I just got a MISTI, it is sitting shiny and new in its plastic. I have a cutting mat on my work surface, and I do sometimes use a piece of foam on top of that for stamps that I can’t get to stamp completely. This card was the first time I used these stamps, so I was not prepared for them to not give me perfect images!

Hope the MISTI will finally help with alignment! There can be a problem with stamps also…
