Metallic Sunflower Birthday Card – Essentials By Ellen June 2016 Mix It Up Challenge

Here is my creation for the Essentials By Ellen June 2016 Mix It Up Challenge with Technique Tuesday.

I only own one Technique Tuesday stamp set – this sunflower and a few words. I used the sunflower last year for a thank you note project, and didn’t know if I would come up of a unique way to use it now.

I was inspired by a My Favorite Things release preview by Kimberly Crawfordthis card , where she painted the image with metallic paint.

I embossed my sunflower with Ranger Silver Pearl embossing powder, and then painted with Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls (mixed with water) and Spring Green Pearl Ex (mixed with Gum Arabic and water). It is very shimmery – I could not catch all of the shimmer with my camera.

Supplies: Stamps – Essentials by Ellen, Technique Tuesday, paper – Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Stampin’ Up! Brushed Gold, Elegant Eggplant, Stardream Silver, ink – VersaFine Onyx Black, die – My Favorite Things, mica medium – Pearl Ex, Perfect Pearls, embossing powders – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear, Ranger Silver Pearl.

  1. Lovely card Kathy. The metallic works fantastically for the sunflower and the dark background is ideal to show if off. Now I am thinking ‘hmmn, I have some glimmer paints somewhere…’
