Watercolor Stenciling Trio of Cards

watercolor stencil trio

On Monday, the post on the Simon Says Stamp Blog was Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: Watercolor Stenciling. I was very inspired by the backgrounds that Nina-Marie was able to create with stencils and distress inks.

I pulled out a few stencils and some Distress Inks and made three different backgrounds. Of course, I am never quite satisfied with the wet version of any watercoloring. I must set it aside and wait to see the dry version.

The next day, I did see backgrounds that were at least useable! I will definitely try this technique again.

Supplies: Stamps – Paper Smooches, Papertrey Ink, paper – Canson watercolor, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Papertrey Ink Royal Velvet, Stampin’ Up! Basic Black, Glossy Black, Night of Navy, inks – Papertrey Ink Fresh Snow, Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress Ink Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron, Wild Honey, Wilted Violet, dies – Impression Obsession (congrats), Lawn Fawn (stitched rectangles), stencils – Heidi Swapp, Ranger/Dylusions, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder white.

  1. These are all really pretty. More than useable.
