Pastel Celebrate Card – Essentials by Ellen February 2016 Pin-Sights Challenge

Hello, hello!

I squeezed in some craft time this weekend, and this is what I made to participate in the Essentials by Ellen February 2016 Pin-Sights Challenge.

Here is the Pin-Sights inspiration board:

I combined the poinsettias and greenery from Mistletoe and Holly set with the celebrate sentiment from the Wish Big set.

I stamped the flowers and foliage on the smooth side of watercolor paper with Distress Ink, and then used an aquabrush with more Distress Ink (pad pressed onto an old CD “palette”) to color wash the images. Because I used the ink instead of watercolor paint, there are a few areas that are streaky, and I could not get that to smooth out with more water. I suppose I could have stamped in Distress Ink, and then used watercolors to finish, but, *oops*. that did not dawn on me in the moment. There is also a tiny bit of Wink of Stella on the flower centers – difficult to capture in the photo.

I chose “celebrate” to have more options on how to use the card – it can be sent for a variety of occasions. I may even save it and use it for a non traditional holiday card.

Thanks for stopping by!
