Flower Die Cut Snowman Card – Essentials by Ellen December 2015 Pin-Sights Challenge

Hello, hello! I am so excited to be able to participate in the Essentials by Ellen December 2015 Pin-Sights Challenge today!

Here is the inspiration board:

I was so inspired by the lumpy little snowman (what is he made out of…meringue? so cute!), the different shades of blue, and the pearl heart pins.

I started by watercoloring a background in two shades of blue using Sakura Koi water colors. When that was dry, I mixed Micro Pearl (#650) Pearl-Ex with Pearl-Ex Varnish, and painted that over the “ground” section of my background. After the varnish dried, I die cut the background with a Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die.

I have 2 Essentials by Ellen stamp sets (Bold Blooms and Wish Big), and 3 sets of dies (Bold Blooms Matching, Bold Blossoms Stand Alone, and Wish Big). How the frack am I going to make a snowman?? In the end, I used the two solid not quite circle dies from Bold Blooms Matching for the two parts of the snowman, and part of the party hat die from Wish Big for the carrot nose.

The “wish big” sentiment was embossed using VersaFine Smokey Gray and Ranger Silver Pearl embossing powder.

I assembled the snowman, drew in eyes and mouth with a Copic Multiliner, added enamel dots for buttons, and mounted him on the sparkly background. I added the snowflakes last…so the card could be used for a birthday, the holidays, or just a snow day!

Here is a close up of the Pearl-Ex sparkle:

I am so happy with how this turned out!
