This month’s Essentials by Ellen August Pin-Sights Challenge was a challenge for me. I could not see past the fact that I did not own the perfect green anything to match the inspiration.
Here is the inspiration board:
Saturday evening, I looked at the cards that others had posted for the challenge. Sigh…what could I add to that collection? Would it be unique enough to not look copied?
I decided to use the bottom half of the cake from the Wish Big set, flipped over and colored brightly (Distress Ink and aquabrush) like a macaron. Who cares if my green isn’t exact?
I watercolored a bit of a background (Distress Ink and an aquabrush), and flicked on some gray ink (Julie Ebersole demonstrated here – she used paint, I used diluted ink). My gray splotches are a bit larger than I wanted (I didn’t practice first – in a hurry!), but I can live with that. I masked the “cake!” out of the sentiment, and wrote in “macarons” with a Copic Multiliner .
It could be a birthday card…or maybe not.
I think I am sending it to Offspring3 just for fun.
