You’re Amazing Card – ric#56 and SSS Monday Challenge

ric56 amazing

The latest Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#56) had me thinking hard! My first thought was to emboss a butterfly in black, and to color it, but I didn’t have the right butterfly stamp or die for the job.

I used the larger candle flame from the Papertrey Ink stamp set Polka Dot Parade #12 to create a flower in the four main colors I saw in the inspiration piece. I stamped and embossed the sentiment on a vellum strip and layered it over the flower. I think it diffuses the colors a bit, and is a nod to the fog/mist in the inspiration photo. The vellum is attached to the back of the panel, so no adhesive is showing.

Here is the inspiration piece by Alice + Olivia:

As I was writing this post, I saw that the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for this week is “something transparent”. I am submitting this card for the SSS Monday Challenge as well.

Supplies: Stamps – Papertrey Ink, Simon Says Stamp, paper – Papertrey Ink White, Stampin’ Up! Basic Gray, Vellum Paper, inks – Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, VersaFine Onyx Black, embossing powder – Filigree Fine Art Powder clear.

  1. really like this design. And the “you’re” is correct. not an easy feat for many of the younger generation.

    • Thanks, Terry! I have witnessed several stamp company snafus with sentiments…they end up replacing the stamp that the editors missed.

  2. I love the thought you put into this, it really paid off and resulted in a unique and striking design! What a great idea to use that candle flame in a totally novel way! Thanks for joining in with us at Runway Inspired Challenge!
