CC460 – Birthday Cards

cc460 pair of cards

This week’s color challenge (#460) on Splitcoaststampers is “Rich Indigo Night” – Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, Night of Navy. The dessert option is splatters.

I scooped ink from the lids of the ink pads with a small paint brush, dipped the brush into water and tapped above watercolor paper. What a MESS I made on my kitchen table (I had moved upstairs to work in the sunbeam next to the sliding glass door). Silly me, I had only protected about 1/3 of the table, thinking I would be neat. (no worries – it all cleaned up with a Clorox wipe)

As usual, I used a larger piece of paper than I needed for one project.

For the vertical card, I cut out the speech bubbles, then dry embossed them. The final step was painting Wink of Stella on the embossed (or debossed – the “valley” stripes were painted) image.

The butterfly card came about because I had enough splatter background paper for another project. I thought the butterfly would look beautiful in the jewel colors of the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!
