I got up early yesterday (Thursday morning), thinking I could spend the extra time working on our Christmas cards (designed Wednesday night…need to emboss, color, cut & assemble!). As I was blog surfing with my Kashi, the deadline for the latest Runway Inspired Challenge (ric#49) caught my attention.
OH, SNAP! The deadline is FRIDAY!
The inspiration photo has been sitting on my paper cutter since it was posted on December 3rd…I was thinking about doing a freehand embossed mosaic that I could color. No time for that NOW, and it probably would have been too literal.
I added the organdy ribbon under the sentiment as a nod to the knife pleated sheer fabric (organza? voile?) at the bottom of the dress. The card took less than 10 minutes to make, most of that spent wrestling with the organdy ribbon bow. I debated between Copics B02 and BG15, and ended up choosing B02. But I was working in the basement, while it was still dark outside. Looking at the photo I took once the sun rose, I should have used BG15, it would have been closer to the color in the inspiration piece.
Here is the inspiration piece:
Not that my opinion matters, but I would have styled it differently! I am assuming that this styling is a common thread through the entire show. 😉
